Australian test selection thread 2015/16

I wonder who would captain if Smith got injured on the morning of the first test. I guess it might be Voges which is weird.

Handscomb inclusion in the ODI might make him a bolter for Test selection. Distinctly remember Vic Orth excited by his ability against spin. Yes I'm aware he made 0&0 in his last 2 bats for Aus A..
He's constantly talked up by others about it; he's a bit Clarke-esque in that he's very good with his feet, but by being aggressive he also gives you opportunities to get him out.

GO AWAY SHAUN MARSH. Seriously this dude has had enough chances. I really want Maxwell in the team, Banga's bowling attack would be a treat for him to cement himself into test cricket with

Voges with a healthy average of 46. Turn it up. He did **** all when needed somewhere he has experience. He only stays because everyone else left.

Darsh was the predictable pick. Just hope for more ducks like I do.

The thing with Shaun Marsh is that he's been really good on the periphery all the way thru the WI and England series. I dislike him but he deserves one extended go in the team based on his output recently.

The test he played in England contained 2 horrid dismissals. Scoring runs in WI isn't a great indicator of anything.

Other than, perhaps, ability to score runs on dead tracks with little bounce against a poor pace attack?

Burns and SMarsh likely to open with Khawaja at #3. Report says Smith to drop at #4.

How disheartening.

If only we had a former test opener with a face to die for, ability with the ball and possessing a robust batting technique of pure power.

There might not be any more Watto, but Maxwell also fits this category perfectly, he'd make Mustafizur's meme cutters look like absolute ****.

Ok sure. An attack that was good for half a session from one end. I don't think he should be in the team going forward and definitely not opening. The team is light on experience but I would prefer someone like Cowan as the experienced guy to bridge to the next gen.

At least with Maxwell you at least know he's talented enough to accomplish something, it's just that you know he'll get out reverse sweeping when you're batting for close.

If Usman must be there then you might as well open with him, the more overs the better before spin sends him into the danse macabre.

Although in slightly more seriousness he'd probably be a better partner with Burns, don't know if the two ever opened together when P'bach and Labuschagne have been around but surely a better combo. They'd know each other's game fairly well whereas i'm not sure even S.Darsh knows his own game.
