I'll be surprised if we dont lose by at least 3-nilThink Australia are shaping up well for the India tour tbh. With Smith, Handscomb, S Marsh and with Warner being unpredictable, they have a decent enough nucleus to get a lot of runs, esp. if the tracks remain flat like they did against England. And with Starc being Starc and Haze supporting him with a couple of spinners doing their bit and with Cartwright being as good as he seems to be from posters here, they should give very tough fight to India in India. Will be a tough series and a good test for India which seemed so unlikely when they were getting bundled out by Philander and Co.
Just quietly thinking the same thing, though I think we'll be well beaten this time. Apart from Smith and Warner we have some hope that Handscomb will play well against spin. Though I'm not a fan you'd have to pick Marsh in India. If Renshaw can show ability against spin then we have potentially 5 batsman who could fight in Indian conditions. Much better than recent tours.Think Australia are shaping up well for the India tour tbh. Whilst SOK deserves a spot through sheer weight of numbers, I would not be all that upset to see Agar get a gig as I have a feeling that he will turn out to be the better test match bowlerOne of the curious things to come out of the scheduling is that Australia plays SL in T20s at home while the test side heads off to India. I suppose it's unavoidable to an extent, but I wonder which T20 specialist spinner can tweak their way into a test call up when SOK inevitably breaks a fingernail in the first tour match and has to come home?
2004 actually.Yeah, we'll struggle big time to save a test let alone win any. The last time we even drew a test in Asia was the 2011 Sri Lankan tour, and the last time we won a test in India was 2008. We're 13-1-4 in Asia in the last 10 years. Would be a huge shock for us to bag even 1 win against an Indian side that is in murderous form in home conditions.
O'Keefe, Holland, Agar probably the main three as things stand.Who are your spin options besides Lyon?
I remember Warne talking-up Zampa. Agar is more famous for his 98 at Trent Bridge batting at 11.O'Keefe, Holland, Agar probably the main three as things stand.
Some people like Zampa, but he's not good enough with the red ball AFAIC. Swepson might be an option in the future, but probably not now.
They are still interested in Maxwell? I feel the reason Cartwright has been drafted in for these two tests shows the selectors are drifting towards the 3rd seamer being the all rounder than one of the spinners, right?Think O'Keefe will get first crack in India, simply because he doesn't bowl with as much overspin as the others, which ensures that the LBW option is in play far more often. And it would also allow them to play Maxwell at 6 - they don't want to play two off-spinners as the two spin options.
