FOUR MATCHES FOR BULLS

Friday 13 August 2010

The XXXX GOLD Bulls will play four matches as part of the Top End Twenty20 Challenge in Darwin at the end of this month.

The tournament has been instigated to give Victoria and South Australia valuable match practice in the lead-up to the Champions League in South Africa from 10 September.

All matches will be played at TIO Stadium at Marrara, the venue of two winter Test matches earlier this decade.

The Bushrangers and Redbacks open the tournament with a Friday afternoon game, with the Bulls featuring in a Saturday double-header.

The Bulls’ fixtures are:

Saturday 28 August

10.30am-1.30pm: XXXX GOLD Bulls v Vic Bushrangers

2.30pm-5.30pm: XXXX GOLD Bulls v SA Redbacks

Sunday 29 August

2.30pm-5.30pm: XXXX GOLD Bulls v Vic Bushrangers

Tuesday 31 August

10.30am-1.30pm: XXXX GOLD Bulls v SA Redbacks

Don't mind the format. though they should have played the first half of the season under the normal rules for the World Cup hopefuls. Just not sure about the point of having 45 overs. May as well be 40 or 50. Also the whole 12 players per side is a tad lame. Would rather have a couple batsmen allowed to bat twice. Though it could be interesting to see the tactics of sides, especially selections. Could see sides go in with 3 specialist bowlers, who can bowl 36 odd overs and then split the 9 overs between all rounders/part timers and play 9 batsmen.

Could see this NSW side dominate:

Phil Jaques
Phil Hughes
Simon Katich
Steven Smith
Usman Khawaja
Ben Rohrer
David Warner
Daniel Smith
Moises Henriques
Brett Lee
Nathan Bracken
Josh Hazlewood

Brett Lee could find it difficult to win selection for the 50-over World Cup competition now Australia has changed its domestic one-day format.
I don't really believe this. If Lee bowls out his 12 overs and performs well there is no way the selectors will go 'nah, sure he's good bowling 12 overs, but I don't think he can handle bowling 10'.

Can't wait to see Tait bowl 12 overs!

Going back to the designated non-batsman, something that was implemented by CA in one day cricket back in the late 1990s, isn't really a step forward.

Speaking of the Champions League, does anybody know what channel they will be showing the games on? ESPN? Foxsports?

Nope, rules are staying the same in Melbourne. However, there are only 5 one day games now, and 4 T20s which are played for points towards the whole competition.

Thanx vic looked on the CA website today,no dice, maybe tomorrow.
Looking at that itinnery katich should play 7 first class games this year, not including the final, have high hopes this year.
Cam white will miss a lot of games with a large ammount of one dayers,3 india,3 srilanka,7 england,6 games world cup not including finals. No white 100 next final anyway.
Anyway those games it said yet to be confirmed so i guess its only a guide as such.
Never remember itinneries ever being so late its the 19th today.
Imagine whats its like when they increase the kfc to 8 teams, will be late then too.

Cricket Australia have approved radical plans which will see the launch of a city based Twenty20 league in 2012 which they hope will become the summer's answer to the NRL and AFL.

The new city based league will replace the current Big Bash competition and will see 8 brand new city based teams taking part. The current state based teams will be replaced with new teams in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Although the teams will be new the six current state associations will each take control of a team and there are no immediate plans for the teams to be privately owned.

The last two teams will be from regional or growth areas which will be developed and set up with the help of Cricket Australia. Areas being considered include the Gold Coast, Geelong, western Sydney, northern Queensland, Canberra and central Victoria.

**im sorry not sure..we this was linked from just find it surfing..**

...Michael White?

Victoria have already announced their squad for Champions League, with White's omission.
