According to the paper 6 of of 18 players on the A tour are not on contract.
According to the Australian 1 player quoted 1 in all in and vice verce.

I feel like Henriques being named in the Aus A OD squad and then the same day being announced as staying with Sussex perhaps gives you a clue

It's just that he truly would be going on strike

Wonder if CA would tear up contracts of players not going on the A tour,or whether the contracts are legally bound.
Behrendorf came out 1 in all in,seems the prevalent attitude.
Don't see CA cancelling, think this has TV rights in S Africa.
Same with the Bangladesh tour.

I wouldn't mind if we sent our 19 team, would it be a good warm up for them for the Youth World Cup.
They have to send a team, why not,if the A team abstain.
Its not a case S Africa A has been strong over the years, especially in One Dayers.

Came across 'The Back Page' on Foxtel tonight (a replay of I presume) and Robert Craddock was talking about the current industrial dispute.

He was saying how the players are being rather spoilt and are generally well paid (even the Shield players) and that this is much different to the late 90s dispute as the domestic players were getting a pittance.

He's entitled to that opinion... except I don't think he had that opinion back in the 1990s. In fact I recall reading in a book he was quite hostile to the players back then in their stance and that this led to a public shouting match with Greg Matthews (one of the main men in the ACA iirc) and that Craddock responded by writing an article that there were too many old spinners clogging up the state system.

I wish there was a way I could absolutely verify this by looking at what he wrote back then but if so it just sums up why I never had much respect for Craddock.

If the CA is going to be hardline on this then they have to break the collective. That's how you break down a union. If the players stay together this could get messy. The Ashes is a huge money spinner. Are they really going to risk that to make a point?

Can't help but wonder if the players really are the "selfish" ones in this scenario. I don't know anywhere near enough about it to have an educated opinion but is it possible that the Board really just wants to use the extra money to grow the game and support Australian cricket rather than see it go to players, many of whom are already very well paid?

though obviously making Shield cricket a non-viable career path due to lack of pay is stupid

with my very big lack of knowledge on the subject but classic australian tendency to rush in and form an opinion without said knowledge basis

i wish both sides would stop sniping at each other, just sit with some independent arbitrators and talk it out maturely and like the adults they are instead of slinging **** at each other across the room and getting mad their walls smell bad

Haha, was watching it on mute at the pub the other day and saw him come up, was sure he'd be toeing the CA line.

Grumpy old journos potting the players is really ****. I mean, they're generally already out of the loop but this sort of crap puts them on par with Roar types.
