Text of the article because **** The Australian.

I mean I know it's a rag but even by the bottom-rung standards of The Oz, this is laughable.
This seems awfully similar to that pile of **** Geeves put up on Fox Sports on Warner.

Anyone interested in this pay dispute should download a podcast of Ed Cowan's current interview on Sky Sports Radio with Slats and TK. Will probably be on their website later today.

Edit: it's up now - not sure if this link will work, but anyway

Couple of times I got the impression he was towing the CA line, but Cowan got his points across pretty well. He's a pretty cluey bloke, a lot more so than Slats.

Think it's safe to say Ed isn't the average sort of dressing room character in the Australian team set up. He's a very bright bloke though. Had a massive Shield year too.

Apart from being given fairly mediocre despite an extended go as Test opener, what probably hurt Cowan was how he was more tied to the Mickey Arthur era than anybody else. When he came out publicly in support of ‘homeworkgate’ and how much it was disliked by most of the rest of the side it was only a matter of time before he was forced out.

Yeah true.

I like how Hughes and Heazlett* and then also Patterson and Bancroft were picked in the right format. None of the players deserved to make it in the other format, so that's encouraging that the selectors are thinking that way.

*You could say that Heazlett hasn't done enough in 50 overs to warrant selection but obviously his Australian call-up means he is in the selectors thoughts.

Unlucky non-selections? Maybe Weatherald (OD) and Turner (both formats).

The Keeping-spot one of the more interesting selections. Guess that means Nevill is well and truly out of the picture.

Henriques being left out of the 4-day squad isn't great
He's out of the OD squad too now anyway

I thought he played it a bit badly though. I think straight of the bat he should have been clear that what the ACA wants is what has been in place for the last 20 odd years

Atherton's place is good: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...b?shareToken=53fd8de371288f29c8a16bab5737ebb7

(I can never tell when the Australian/the Times is gonna paywall you vs let you read it)

Anyone who's been involved in junior cricket would have seen how much the domestic players have done promotionally in the past five years for the Big Bash - both male and female. Under the guise of the Stars and the Renegades, I reckon every junior (metro, at least) club has had access to a clinic of some sort where you see these players.

You talk about partnerships, that's what these guys (and girls) have done to help the BBL get going. To then cut out the majority of these players from the revenue sharing is pretty offensive to my thoughts - the CA players don't do this (obviously because they are away a lot!).

Do we know who has long-term domestic contracts and would be 'forced' to play if this all falls through?
