Anyway, Sam Truloff v Fergus O'Neill, the matchup everyone had been waiting for
Truloff playing so many FC games for such an absolutely horrible record is truly mystifying.

There's being shown faith despite a bad start, and there's 17 FC games as a specialist batsman for an average of 16 and one score over 50.

Better start to his List A career, but he's just been knocked over by Fergus O'Neill...

This Queensland batting lineup is absolutely putrid on paper. I wouldn't back it to make many in a Second XI game tbh.

They've started about as well as you'd expect, given that...

Yeah, it's a bit of a puzzling one that. From memory he does tend to make runs whenever he goes back to play grade cricket, but surely by now it would be pretty much safe to conclude it isn't going to happen for him. The loooooong rope he seems to get is definitely a bit odd

Though as you point out, this isn't a very impressive batting lineup in a general sense

Yeah his few List A games haven't been as bad and they're obviously very stretched for depth so I can see why he's been picked here, but the long rope in the Shield makes no sense.

I probably would've picked Street here and told him to be an anchor. Wildermuth is better on batting alone that some of these guys too IMO. Could've even brought him in for Sinfield so the tail wasn't so long.

O'Neill the destroyer.

Action actually reminding me a bit of Boland's today, surprised I'd never noticed that before.
Yeah can see what you mean tbh. Despite what I said earlier he looks a pretty skilful operator, probably half a yard too slow to ever attract higher interest but I can see him being a regular in the Vic setup if he keeps bowling like he did today

Commentators spending the whole innings hyping up Short's slip catching and then he drops an absolute sitter. Classic.
What I will say about Short is that even though it hasn't shown up in figures yet and this over has had a couple of horrible deliveries in it already, he seems to have really improved his bowling action - he's putting a lot more on it now. Potential to be more than just a part-timer if he keeps working on it.

Would be gun if Prestwidge got his brother out here.

Makes me think of a 50 over game at KRO a couple of years back, where Wes Agar spent a few overs trying to take Ashton Agar's head off. Swear Wes was bowling at least 5kph quicker than he did any other time that season.

Same game where Ashton ended up wearing one in the field later on iirc

It's not even like he's young either. He does have a gun Grade record but so does Bryant, for example. A lot of Queenslanders think highly of someone called Arun Jain as well.

Bryant is a level above those guys but has failed to convert his many starts

Needs to get much fitter

Even mentioning the idea of Zampa as a Test bowler should 100% be a bannable offense

Unless of course you consider Jarrod Freeman and Nathan Ellis the best players of spin in the country

Pretty well so far, got a bit of a thankless task on his hands though as 210 is a long way under par on this pitch
Very impressive

Posted in BBL that I wouldn’t be surprised if they fast track him & nothing has changed to make me change that opinion
