I thought the Smith and Marnus reactions were pretty poor, and given how Marnus copies everything Smith does I did half seriously wonder if he felt empowered to react like he did because Smith just did it as well. I also don't think there's any chance of it flowing down the kids because no child is watching this, but I do wonder if Smith and Marnus felt like they could react like that because it's the shield

I'm someone that's all for bowlers doing crazy celebrations and sending batsman off as well, I think the Australian aversion to that is pretty hypocritical, but clear disrespect towards the umpire like that is pretty dire

Yes the umps have to be respected but geez as an ump you'd expect to get that every match. What Lalor reported on was such a non issue it didn't even get reported. And maybe they realise the decisions were poor. Compare this to the tennis where umpires have to put up with frequent disrespect from jerks like Kyrgios and no one clutches their pearls over the future of tennis.
