Very impressed with that innings. More impressed than if he had come out on another day and hit 120 off 80 balls. For an 18 year old who's game is built around hitting over the field and scoring at a run-a-ball that's exactly the kind of fight under pressure you want to see.

Oh right. Possibly insensitive but I didn't make the connection because it was describing his batting.

In other news, Freeman is what I imagine when I imagine a park cricketer. From his build to his gentle offies he truly inspires a bunch of overweight blokes playing on an odd shaped field in suburbia with the thought that they too might one day play shield cricket.

Has there ever been an example of a batsmen developing so fast like Marnus? Went from a 30 average shield batsmen to on the same level as the fab 4 almost overnight.

I find it vaugely surprising that Waugh was only one of two members of that U19 team (Ryan Hadley the other) who haven't made it into the domestic system.

Although with that being said Hadley still could, was going well in Sydney first grade this year iirc

From what I saw, probably the latter. The spinner wasn't much chop and Khawaja was milking him really easily.
