Big signing. Only for half the season though I think.

Off to Karen Rolton Oval today, thought it looked a nicer day today than Sunday. Last time I went to a state one dayer Jake Haberfield (anyone remember him?) was taking the new rock for the SACAs
is he the dude who hooped it heaps and ended up at victoria?

renshaw’s ready to explode this summer. such a simple technique now, not as many moving parts as he used to have

He really is quite a top fielder is Maxwell. Insane how reliable his catching is compared to his batting lol. And while is bowling is obviously not top class he seems to take it quite seriously.

It's so weird how he treats his main discipline. Just completely reckless from ball one every time. I don't understand it. Haven't actually seen him facing a red ball in ages but he does change his approach a little in those circumstances right?

Good stuff from the whole SACA attack, but Valente was the best of them. Batsman struggled against his couple of different types of slower ball.

Karen Rolton Oval mid innings ratings:

Pitch: 7.5/10. Fairly flat and true, the slower ones are holding up a bit though. Should be more runs there than Tasmania made

Viewing: 9.5/10. Was initially sitting pretty much right opposite the players entrance, then I decided to go up into the main pavillion. Excellent vantage point, and anyone can get in, you don't need to be a SACA member

Outfield: 8/10. Neat, well presented and lightning quick. The wicket block is slightly raised which leads to a gradual slope outwards in all directions.

Atmosphere: 8/10. Definitely a fair buzz about the place, not a huge crowd but those who are here are passionate yet knowledgeable.

Food: 1/10. Deep fryer not functioning. Not having chips available is a cardinal sin as far as I am concerned

Alcohol: 3/10. $9.10 for a Hahn middy may seem like highway robbery, but is about par for the course in my experience

Overall: 8/10. Been a good day so far

Very interesting to see Sam Harper given the opening spot. Looked the goods at Renegades last season.

The only thing stopping the Vics getting a BP here is good old Handbrake Harris. TBF he performed a similar role for Australia in the Ashes in stopping them from achieving their series goal as well.
