Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

That was the list.

Fairly insane from Punter to be almost twice as good as the next best u/21 given Aus's history of cricket and the Sheffield Shield.

What went wrong for renshaw? I remember him looking really good during that india tour In 2017, and he had 3 shield hundreds before 21, now he can't even get a shield game with Queensland.

I think it's mostly mental. He seemed to fall off a cliff after his concussion.

Has to be mental as he’s got a technical issue which everyone knows about but he simply can’t seem to rectify

We keep saying that but at this stage I don't think you can really claim that anymore. His batting has sky-rocketed and there's no way he is still a better bowler than batter.
Strongly disagree. Yeah his batting has really went to another level this year, but as Cribb said earlier being able to focus more time on it helps there. Played a couple games as a 17 year old and then a handful more last year as a specialist bowler, averaged about 17 with the stick and 21 with the ball. More to the point he just looked so impressive, bouncy outswingers that look like they could nick off any quality batsman

These runs are certainly very exciting, but anyone saying his bowling is "just a bonus" or anything like that is completely wide of the mark

If you think his bowling is still stronger than his batting at this stage then he's going to make McGrath look ordinary by comparison. Of course being injured made him focus on his batting but that's not really relevant.

His batting has been brilliant, I'm not saying anything otherwise at all, but I have long said that as a bat you need to have more than one big season to truly announce yourself, need a greater sample size to know if this is genuinely his level with the stick going forward

Anyone telling him to forget bowling should be kept as far away from any influence as possible

He's a similar height to Jamieson.

At 201cm (6'7"+), bowls with genuine outswing and bounce and likely to quicken up into the 140's as he gets stronger. He's the same height as Curtley Ambrose, slightly shorter than Joel Garner, 8 cm's taller than Cummins, 5 cm's taller than McGrath and around 2" taller than Starc. He's definitely a point of difference.

He already hits the ball hard with the bat, you can imagine what it's going to be like in his mid-late 20's.

He's probably the best bowling AND best batting prospect u/23 in Australia at the moment. I can't think of prospect that's genuinely been the most promosing on each side of the ledger in the last 4 decades I've been watching the Shield closely. Given his height he's a pretty crazy prospect, he must have an amazing eye.

He's definitely in the top couple most exciting young cricketers in the world at the moment.

He's been compared to Flintoff, but he's 8cm's taller than him..... As devastating as Freddie could be in certain spells, he wasn't consistent at all, he only averaged 32 with the ball at FC level in the best local bowling conditions on the planet.

If I was to guess, I think Greens going to be a <25 type with the ball at test level and a 40< with the bat. I.e a world class bowler and decent test level batsman,

Obviously fan boying hard, but Jeez I hope Bert gets a score in the Gong today. He's just had such a tough time of it and deserves to make a few

No one is claiming that he's going to be this good with the bat going forward. It's just a great run. Likewise i don't think anyone is telling him to forget his bowling, are they? Not sure who you're responding to

Were you talking to me?

I tend to agree, like I said, I think he's a 40+ bat down the track (He's averaging 73 in the Shield this year), with this year likely to be a purple patch.

However, I think given his performances with the ball as an 18/19 year old, his height, natural pace is decent - He screams as a quality bowling prospect.

Cricket Australia have rebuilt Cummins into the best quick in the world from worse injuries, it's probably one aspect I'd have faith in they know what they are doing if he's placed on a CA central contract, which I think is coming....

If he backs up this season in a winter CC stint (I imagine this could be on the cards) or in the 20/21 Shield, well then he could simply be facing India or SAF as a specialist no.6..

Must have missed the part where I said he should forget about his bowling or that he is going to be in this batting form forever
You specifically said he is a better batsman than bowler these days. Twice.

Having followed his career closely for three or four years now I cannot agree with that. Frankly this just screams of recency bias on your behalf

Anyway let's move on, randomly was watching a bit of the national premier t20 championships, seeing Sam Kerber running with the full meme Chanderpaul batting stance was ITSTL

Screw this rubbish argument between you blokes. #Bertmentum into the 40s vs the Lions. So happy he's made a few.

My thoughts from the T20 champs so far:
1. Condon still looks like a gun bat.
2. Jarwal is a filthy chucker.
