Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

Typically grim day for the SACAs, the bowling and fielding looked pretty listless, just no energy, no real plans. Started the second batting innings decently enough until Hatcher removed Hunt with a sharp bouncer.

Knowing how these South Australia second innings chases usually go someone will make a nice ton but the rest of the batting order will get themselves out softly under 20. Will be bowled out early in the final session, run rate fairly brisk but still well short of the target

Looks like I was a bit off the mark, three decent half centuries but all three threw it away to varying degrees. Otherwise this was still looking largely like I expected

Hatcher doesn't mind banging it halfway down, that's for sure

Bosisto and Nielsen looking to shut up shop now

And Nielsen goes as I am writing this. Bloody hell

Imagine how much poorer this round of shield games would have been if it was played over 5 days

Condolences to Ashton Agar who has had his Cricinfo profile picture updated for the first time since 2013.

He looked really handsome when he came on the scene in 2013, sadly his premature baldness has exposed his oddly shaped head.

Cameron Green the second player in the history of the shield to take 2 5 wicket halls and make 3 Centuries before turning 21, now averaging 47 with the bat and 21.5 with the ball after last game vs tasmsnia, sky may be the limit with this kid.

Who was the first?

Doug Walters was actually the first to do it, but he was a part time bowler at best. Smith had a 7 wicket Hall and 4 first class centuries at 21, but not really the same. Its genuinely untreded territory for Australia to have a genuine all rounder like this so young.

Even Green hasn't really done it as a "genuine allrounder" though. He took his wickets playing as a specialist bowler and scored his tons playing as a specialist batsman. It's different to batting top six and bowling a full quota in the same game.

Still extremely impressive, don't get me wrong. But I do think people underestimate how much easier it is for players approaching a game mentally when they only have to do one thing.

Shame Wardy couldn't have made a score, but good to see him get a game against the touring Lions.

I saw the stat's of this flash up over the weekend.

Punter had 11 x SS 100's before 21, with Bradman, Bevan, Clarke etc the closest second on around 5 or 6. I think Hughes had 4.

Incredible.

If Green knocks another one this season, he's definitely in rare air.

At 201cm (6'7") this kid certainly has generational talent given he's meant to be a much better bowler than batter.

We keep saying that but at this stage I don't think you can really claim that anymore. His batting has sky-rocketed and there's no way he is still a better bowler than batter.

Yeah, and to be fair the bowling we saw from him at the start of the season wasn't amazing either, he took 3 wickets at 36 before the injury in 2 innings.
