Australian Domestic Season 2017/18

Tremain with 7/82. Nice effort out of a total of 302. Can't help but notice the high innings run rate. Must've been really going at them.

Two Qld bats leaving a ball hitting the stumps. Never becomes unfunny.

Mildly interesting: Rensaw and Labashagne both have the same number of runs from the same number of dismissals and the same average for the season.

SA doing a great job of not doing a great job. Carey played outside one swinging away from him.
From yesterday's highlights the duke ball hops around like nobodies business. There were a LOT of runs scored in the third man area, which makes me wonder why captains don't put fielders there.

Last time I checked WA vs Vic I thought Vic might struggle to set a really good target. Apparently I wasn't counting on the one and only Arun Finch.

So pathways programs .....

Hadn't been exposed to this bs for about 30 years until today

Took Social Jnr along to a regional trial with zero expectations and those lessened immediately when the sole adult with authority said that they were looking for "technique not performance at club level."

Ookayyy

There were 79 kids trying out for 20 provisional squad spots in 5 nets - do the math wtr to numbers lining up to bowl!

After about half an hour, I was ready to pull stumps as Jnr had bowled one ball because there was no supervision and kids from the same school literally gave the ball to their mates

Long story short - sole selector watched Jnr bowl 2 balls (one of which was a a head high full toss that would've cleaned up fine leg) and didn't see him bat

Despite this, he made the cut off and I can only attribute this to the fact that he used to be a perennial 5th grader with a club that I used to play at

System is a farce and any pissed off parents have every right to be

Hopefully O' Keefe would still be considered, especially after such a miserly return today. Mennie and Bird (when healthy) would also be candidates as pace bowlers along with Tremain.

This was asked before last game.

I went with:

1 M Renshaw
2 D Hughes
3 G Maxwell
4 K Patterson
5 T Head c
6 H Cartwright
7 A Carey
8 A Agar
9 J Mennie
10 C Tremain
11 P Siddle

Weatherald Stoinis Finch White Ferguson Lehmann Wade Boland, Mackin, Copeland were all considered.

Obviously selectors might think they already know enough about some of the players such as Siddle, Maxwell, Head and then players doing well like Doran and Winter could jump ibto calculations.

Do you feel that 3-5 is too wishy-washy ?

Cartwright is in such bad form but would balance things nicely when back to his promise from previous seasons.

Saw some of you guys talking about the fast-bowling stocks. It certainly looks lighter than the past. Think it will be interesting to see CA's selections. Richardson just catapulted into the mix shows that. Wonder when Stanlake will play 4-day cricket ?

Variations on this theme are everywhere. Insane stuff isn’t it? And once they’re picked it’s harder to get out than in.
