Australian Domestic Season 2016/17

Midwinter

State Captain
WA off to a good start, 100 before lunch

Qld in strife against the Vics and SA in trouble against the Apple eaters.

Not a good start for the teams that need to win to make the final !

Supposed to be showers on and off for the next few days up here. Might be a short shield match.

Cartwright on fire 70 off 89

The only score not updating is the Vic vs Qld game but it looks like Hartley is going to show off his batting skill for the last time.

Good to see Joe Mennie back

I can't get over Hartley retiring. He's probably the best keeper/batsman in Australia right now and wouldn't have been surprising to see him just get selected next tour if Wade continues being ****.

Then again keeping is a tough job and he's done it for 15 years. When you've had enough of the grind, you've had enough I guess.

Bad light probably a blessing in disguise for the Vic openers, seeing how they have been going lately

Sayers back at it, got the first 2 Tas wickets

Bancroft on the verge of a century. Turner making runs again

Man, choosing between Jewell and Hancock for opener must have been such a head scratcher. Pure mediocrity all around.

At least Hancock scores runs at lower levels; I don't really get what's put Jewell in the frame at all.
CA XI and U19 pathways I guess, then again checking the averages there isn't that much to choose from. Guess Harry Evans averaging twice as much ain't what Tassy is looking for?

To be fair, Evans has always really sucked at Futures League level, first for NSW and more recently for Tassie. It'd probably be wise for them to at least start actually picking him in that again though.

Jewell averaging sub-35 in both Grade and Futures is surely a no-go though. Must look amazing in the nets.

Age helps. Would rather a **** 20 year old to a **** 26 year old.

Would just bring back Doran though given Silk is batting 3, a cute 20 or 30 is still better than a single-digit score.

Does feel like there's a lack of good batting depth around though. Only really a couple of guys playing Futures League would really look FC standard.

I think Doran really needs some time playing grade cricket instead of a seemingly infinite amount of faith in various different roles.

I tended to think that if anything Dunk probably wasn't given the faith he deserved after an awesome 2015/16, at least given the lack of any other decent options.

Is Feldman injured again? Bloody hell it's a nice day for batting today in Brisbane. Not too hot and drier than normal.

I have a bad feeling that this will end up being a Victoria vs NSW final.
