Australian Cricket - New TV rights negotiations/deal

Not bad. I was kinda hoping they'd keep 100% of the men's & women's Test cricket on FTA, maybe even the ODIs, and then dump all the lame gimmicky T20 junk on Fox.

I assume that that the Tests and 43 Big Bash games will have a pooled broadcast (with match play covered by just one set of cameras)

However each of Channel Seven and Fox will have their own commentators

It's unlikely that the Nine boys will be at Seven - as those boys are Channel Nine institutions (sadly) and won't be uniquely Channel Seven - who are of course a direct FTA competitor

if the Nine boys show up anywhere (and I think only Clarke and perhaps Warne will) it will be on Fox.

Fox also favour younger, vibrant callers - so the future looks grim for Taylor, Healy, Chappell etc.

Gilchrist, Ponting, Fleming, MWaugh etc. were all previously employed at Fox when they had the Big Bash, so it's likely they will find a new home back there

Wonder who 7 would hire if they don't have former 9/10 people though. Not many cricket commentators who don't have links to 9, 10 or Fox.

Still if what you suspect is right and the old 10 team heads to Fox I'd just listen to their call. Especially because they won't have as many **** ads (possibly - I don't know how Foxtel Now would work with that).

There's guys like Blewett, Brayshaw (who works for Seven for the AFL), Dean Jones (hear about his double century in Dehli?), who have done a lot of TV commentary

Also Katich, Cowan etc. will be forwarding their resumes around

And there's bound to be a famale presence...Mel McLaughlin, Allison Mitchell, and the Triple M lady

The sleeper is Mo Matthews haha

I'd love to hear Katich & Cowan commentating together. Would be so refreshing to hear after years of the same old, same old. Thankfully the days of viewers being reminded to watch "the Block" are over.

I'll bet $1000 you'll see Cowan on the ABC's team next summer.

If the average Foxtel subscription is say around $90 per month, Fox would need an extra 656 250 subscriptions over the six-year period to cover the right's cost

Bearing in mind, in addition to the $630 million, they will have other expenses such as covering the matches, and also paying the commentators
Are they AD free ?

wonder if seven will show any overseas tours. it’s been a long 40 years without australia touring overseas (as far as ch9 is concerned heh heh)

What's exciting to me is the emergence of the Cricket Network online *********/highlights service. There is potential there if they can have the full footage of games available on their archives, along with curated highlight packages and live *********. And hopefully down the road it's more than just Australian cricket that gets this treatment

wrt the C9 comms, you'd probably guess that the ones more likely to cross over are the ones who do commentary gigs overseas (so that'll be Nicholas, Warne and Clarke) whilst the ones who only commentate on C9 games exclusively would probably hang up their boots

Yeah, this is my theory. So that means that Warne, Clarke, Slater, KP and Nicholas may end up elsewhere but Healy, Taylor and Chappell probably don't (didn't count Lawry as the only reason he hasn't retired yet is because of how closely linked he was to 9).

I'm going to miss New Horizons, but probably nothing else from Channel Nine.

Looks like I'm going to miss a lot of limited overs stuff too.
