Australian Cricket - New TV rights negotiations/deal

Many people would take up more than the basics package if they were to get Foxtel; also not uncommon to have it in various rooms throughout the house - both would increase the cost to perhaps that high.

You can get Foxtel for as cheap as $39/month (Foxtel Now admittedly but still). Perfect if you're interested in more than one sport.

What's up with these channels not having proper names and using numbers instead.

Well ABC and SBS are proper names :p

Similar thing happens in a lot of places around the world. And the pay TV stations have proper names.

Channel 7 gets everything! Should be interesting to see who commentates. Hopefully more of the channel 10 crew

The numbers are the networks rather than channels. So you had GTV Nine in Melbourne which was the same network as TCN Nine in Sydney. I think the numbers signify the old VHF signal numbers they broadcast from.

I wonder whether the domestic one-day comp will go back to being played throughout the season as it used to be when Foxtel were covering it back in the 2000s.

Still think it's kinda silly to have ODI's/T20I's go full-time to Foxtel, but I like that we get some domestic stuff on Foxtel (probably was room for more given the new cricket channel). Fox Cricket Channel also a boon.

I'm going to have to give up on foxtel if there's a dedicated cricket channel. I don't have enough of a life as it is and that would be the final nail in the coffin.

I'm glad Richie didn't live to see this.

You just know Warne will be with the Seven team. Keep Mark "God I'd murder someone just to play test cricket for a second" Nicholas, have Bill do cameos and the rest can piss off.

This is a disaster since I don't get reception for 7 at my place.

Looks like Seven & Foxtel landed the deal. Anyone know the finer details of the agreement? Most importantly, will Tests still be on free-to-air?

Seven seem better at making use of their secondary HD channels for sport than Nine (at least that's my experience from what I've seen). it'll be good if we see more and more cricket on HD
