Auction draft 2011

Blakus

State Vice-Captain
Looking at the other teams I think Himannv has the best bowling attack whilst Pothas has the best balanced and flexible.
Michael7777777 despite paying so much for Bradman has managed to surround him with plenty of quality players and is my darkhorse.
Weldone has the team closest to mine. I don't agree with smalishah84 about his bowling attack being iffy. 4 quality bowlers with a good part-timer (Hazare) is enough. Same balance as my own side.

I only said his bowling attack was weak relatively speaking. Doesn't have any of the creme de la creme of ATG bowlers

And before I forget I'd like to thank marc for running a fantastic draft again. I liked how the onus of achieving balance - getting a keeper etc - was put on us. Looking forward to the next draft you run

International Vice-Captain
Damien Martyn
Roy Fredericks
Javed Miandad (*)
Kumar Ranjitsinhji
Brian Lara (+)
Jacques Kallis
Brian McMillan
Alan Davidson
Clarrie Grimmett
Mohammad Aamir
James Anderson

Shariar Nafeez
Bryan Strang
Alok Kapali
Yasir Arafat

I must have one of the strongest middle orders of all time, considering it consists of about 5/6 batsmen.

However, I've obviously got an awful team. 1 opener and no keeper really don't help.

Ah, fair enough then. I've always rated Roberts as better than his average though and
I regard Steyn highly as well.

Doug Walters
Ian Smith (+)
Shaun Pollock
Maurice Tate
Shane Warne
Allan Donald

Fazal Mahmood
Jonathan Trott
Eric Hollies
Dave Mohammad

Pretty happy with my team, some excellent batsmen in there is plenty of excitement for the crowd. Also I have the most awesome brains trust with an array of former international captains, plus Warne and Donald who aren't too bad either. Smith is solid, Pollock is one of the best number 8's ever, Tate and Warne can certainly bat too. Pollock and Donald make an exciting and very high quality opening partnership, Tate will compliment them well, and Warne is one of the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. The reserves bench has Mahmood for subcontinental conditions, Trott where a bit of stodge or Aussie-bashing is necessary, Hollies for playing against Bradman, and Dave Mohammed for cult status.

My teams have the best captains of all.

Azharuddin, Rantaunga, Border and Imran Khan himself :).

Dont know if you are kidding or not, but I was also thinking the same thing.
Anyway.
The top 3 are definately Blakus, Pothas and Weldone. Number 4 is up for grabs, but I will say four_or_six for now.

I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in this draft. Auction drafts are always my favorite ones because of the fairness involved. Marc has done a top job with all the twists and turns to keep the interest alive.

My only suggestion for next time would be that there should be a way whereby one drafter can get more than one player in a round if he is willing to spend more than others. For example, if in one round all of Bradman, Sobers and Marshall are there, and there's a drafter who wants all 3 of them and he's ready to pay more than others for all 3 - he should get all 3. I know it sounds very difficult to conduct such a draft, but we should brain-storm. That'll make the game even fairer. (and more like real-life auctions)
