Auction draft 2011

Michaelf7777777

International Debutant
Ajit Agarkar has already been nominated

Very, very happy to get Bedser, a second great new ball bowler to open the bowling with Constantine who also knows how to keep an end tight.

In an interesting position here. Don't know whether to play de Silva or Dempster. Anyone have any thoughts?

Dempster the better batsman but de Silva does provide an additional bowling option which will be very useful if/when Shoaib Akthar breaks down

Sehwag and Sutcliffe will make a superb opening pair. Need one more ATG batsman, and my team will look rather good, tbh.

...comparable batsmen...Given that you already have two superb openers, it makes more sense to go for DeSilva.

Also, I believe Gavaskar can do a good job as the captain of your team.

Don't know, and it's not relevant to your bids anyway as I don't need values this round!

Just realised I forgot a deadline - how does 10pm GMT on Wednesday suit people?

Eddie Paynter? Seriously? He was my first choice pick and nomination that round.

Anyways sent the last round list of preferences.

With this draft rapidly coming to a finish and all the players which will be involved in one squad or another revealed, I have started to think about running the sim and decided that for a fair and easily managable sim I will need 14 teams and have therefore selected a team of rejects to full the final spot.

Methodology for selecting team

1. For round 1, put all 10 test countries into random.org generator

2. For whichever country is selected (i.e. no 1) put all test players from that country into random.org generator

3. Select a player from the first 15 on the list which have not already been selected in this draft

4. Repeat Steps 1 to 3 for rounds 2 through 15

Note I will be making selections for each round based on who I feel is the best playing option and not purely on statistics. I also will not know future countries or player availability when making my selections in each round

The cricketers chosen in each round were:

Round 1 (Bangladesh) – Mushfiqur Rahim
Round 2 (New Zealand) – Bevan Congdon
Round 3 (New Zealand) – Jack Cowie
Round 4 (England) – Phil Mead
Round 5 (India) – Ravi Shastri
Round 6 (England) – Tip Foster
Round 7 (Zimbabwe) – Murray Goodwin
Round 8 (Sri Lanka) – Chaminda Vaas
Round 9 (Pakistan) – Zaheer Abbas
Round 10 (Australia) – Terry Alderman
Round 11 (New Zealand) – Andrew Jones
Round 12 (Bangladesh) – Shakib Al Hasan
Round 1 3 (West Indies) – Desmond Haynes
Round 14 (New Zealand) – Tony Blain
Round 15 (Pakistan) – Asif Iqbal

Leaving a final Rejects XI of

1. Desmond Haynes
2. Phil Mead
3. Andrew Jones
4. Zaheer Abbas
5. Bevan Congdon (*)
6. Asif Iqbal
7. Shakib Al Hasan
8. Tony Blain (+)
9. Chaminda Vaas
10. Jack Cowie
11. Terry Alderman

Reserves: Mushfiqur Rahim, Ravi Shastri, Tip Foster, Murray Goodwin

Strange reserves team there, surely a better one can be picked. Australia and England have so many good players who could have been selected.

8 in (almost a miracle!) - missing Howe_Zat, Samuel_Vimes, Somerset, pskov and four_or_six.

Will attempt to put people's responses in order when I get to allocating players.
