Just thought i'll give an update on how i've been going with Sri Lanka, i've been managing them properly for two seasons, were into Season 2016.
Both the Test and ODI sides have gone up from 9th to 4th, i think the below screenshots have them at 5th in Tests, but thats was before we beat Australia 2-0. Our Test side pretty much relies on four players B Sangado (our new captain took over from Jayawardene after we lost the final of the 2015 WC to India), G Noyhar, S Indrasiri and M Suraj. P Silva and M Jayawardene are both pretty big run getters, when in form.
Sawall played a lot Test when he was 21, now his 30 and since his recall has averaged 35. His also got the highest ever score made by me, a 200 against England. He is starting to struggle to take consistent wickets, but does keep it tight. Rajapaske 24 and just got recalled, scored two 50s against England, only played one Test against Australia. He averages just under 40 in FC cricket.
Bowling wise im not sure what to do with Malinga and Lokuarachchi, both take the odd wicket to keep their spot in the side. Malinga got 7 fer against England 3 Test ago, but hasn't done much since. There isn't any young bowlers coming through in FC cricket, a few OD bowlers. Roy De Silva had a good tour of England, in the domestic matches, but isn't really dominating domestic FC cricket to force his way into the 1st XI, averages 21 in FC cricket.
Well ODIs we have a pretty good bowling attack, with Roy De Silva, Indrasiri and Lokuarachchi all averaging in the low 20s or below. Both Sawall and Wettasinghe are quite handy bowlers, they keep it tight and take the odd wicket. Batting wise we don't really have much outside Salgado. Jayawardene is quite solid, Pererra was very good at one stage, but has falllen away a lot, one stage he was averaging just under 50.
When it comes to batting we mainly rely on our depth. In most innings we get about 3 or 4 20 odds and just hope one turns it into a big 50. Its worked alright since the Bangladesh series where we lost 3-0. Since then we beat England 3-0 and Australia 2-1. Im keeping Noyhar in the side as he has the 2nd best List A record after Salgado, averages 40. Also since his record against England he averged 45, been our best batsmen after Salgado and Jayawardene. Sawall hasn't had the same success at 3 as his had in Tests, so im probably going to drop him back to 6 and push everyone up one. Samanrthra is a young batsmen im working on the replace Jayawardene, his 38 so he'll probably retire next season.
Just need to fill a few more gaps and i think we'll have a pretty strong side.
