Dead Badger

State 12th Man
Am pretty much playing for the draw this week against the only other decent side in my FC league. Decided to rest Oleary, Pead and Piercy for (yet) another OD crunch match on Friday, hence the lack of ambition today. Doing well in IV OD is waaaay more inspiring than the prospect of promoting from an FC league of deadbeats and bots.

End of Over 15 (3 runs). KFC Select XI: 60-0, runrate=4.00
Gill 8-0-30-0
Morley* 28 (38 balls)
Bunn 32 (52 balls)

I'm guessing that the opposition is a bot.

End of Over 24 (1 runs). Ibstock Knitters CC: 95-2, runrate=3.96
Prutton 3-1-5-0
Odonnell* 3 (11 balls)
Mackin 27 (38 balls)

Last Wicket: Lewis c. Grant b. Westwood 49 (FOW: 89/2)

Wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with a draw here either, to be honest. I have a pretty easy OD game on Friday but Sunday's CW Cup game against Leverock CC is a must-win game after being picked off by Male Models last week, so I'm erring on the side of caution with my stars.

Claps - I can only bid up to about 350k at present. If he's going cheapish to someone else, buy him back and I'll bid higher later. :)

Prutton 7-1-28-1
Davies* 3 (4 balls)
Mackin 47 (56 balls)

Last Wicket: Odonnell c. Knight b. Prutton 29 (FOW: 132/3)

They're scoring pretty fast but we're pegging them back with a wicket every so often. Prutts has got his first wicket in FC cricket now.

Edit: Hmmmm.

End of Over 46 (7 runs). Ibstock Knitters CC: 189-3, runrate=4.11

Mackin 69 (95 balls)

Playing Gangulis on their flat pitch, and I'm 40/1, having bowled them out for just 109.

I'm slightly surprised, given that last week they beat Rickmansworth, arguably the league's strongest team, by an innings.

Clairmonte 5 (32 balls)

Last Wicket: Mackin b. Lucas 78 (FOW: 229/5)

Lucas took a couple of wickets after lunch but they're still very much in this game - hopefully Prutton can come back on and run through their lower order and get them out for under 300.

Preece* 11 (19 balls)

Last Wicket: Patel lbw b. Olowe 39 (FOW: 205/6)

Following a familiar pattern, my lot looking at around mid-200s up against a batting lineup of the like I've annihilated regularly in FC games.

Somewhat surprised I've got this many, Preece top-scorer now coming in at 8.

From 62/2, Reed and Sandwith have taken it to 258/2, both smashing the lesser bowlers on the way to centuries. The better bowlers have returned now, but that's still two bonus points bagged and hopefully three more to come.

149 runs ahead. Assuming I survive more or less intact 'til close, I'm going to have to have a good think about my declaration total -- Gangulis could potentially threaten, despite today's poor showing, so I want to restrict their bonus points as much as possible.

UPDATE

And there's close of play at angulis CG. Withington 263/2.

John was the hero of the first innings, taking 5/34 from his 15.1 overs.

So, I'll most probably set a declaration target of 361 -- can't see myself getting to far past that anyway. A lead of 150 should be safe enough -- while I'm very jittery about last innings collapses, the third day is forecast sunny.

The Heath CC: 39/0 (10) Caldwell 22* (31), Mclean 16* (30)

A good recovery with Ibstock well set at 222/3 earlier in the day. Planning to get to 500 and declare, which should give us enough time to win on the last day.
