This just an observation that I have made in recent times. The 'big four' is now anything but. I think its more a big two comprised of Scaly Piscine CC and Asterix XI. Scaly's dismantling of Withington Wanderers this morning is proof of this fact. Based on batstats ratings, Whenuapai CC are now a distant third. If Whenuapai were to lock horns with Asterix or Scaly I dear say we'd be on the end of a severe beating as well. How bigger scale this beating is anyones guess. With Withington seemingly falling back to the pack the dominant days of big four are over. IMO, so begins the era of the "big two."

Pretty sure Anchormen jumped ahead of Withington in the 'top four' a while back. Basically it is just the 'top two', then 'top eight' and so forth. You dropped back to the pack a while a ago. It is just you have some overhyped underperformers that on paper make you look slightly better then the rest.

oh come on, chaminda. there was once a time when top 4 were miles ahead of everyone else, hence why they were referred to as the big four. my point is that the top 2 are the only ones miles ahead these days, hence the need to refer to them as the big two, or scaly and asterix.

And that was what four seasons ago, Rob closed the gap a while back and to an extent Pete recently. Now you have the likes of Andy and Hak in the mix as well.

True -- I've been plugging gaps in my XI, and fallen way behind as a result. My first big wave of training came to an end too, and I didn't do so well with the second.

I should point out that I did TIE and rest two first XI bowlers against Scaly -- assuming he played full-strength or thereabouts, it should have been a bit closer.

But, yeah, I'm now miles behind the big two, and probably only just scraping 4th/5th.

Lost my OD match yesterday, quite pissed off about it as well. Bowled out for 188, and then only managed to grab 3 wickets as they chased down the runs in 45 overs. I really need a new bowling attack...

Won my league match easily enough on PAN:

The Flintstones 66a.o. (23 overs)
Downer 3-13 (10), Watkins 3-13 (5), Ellis 2-22 (5), Dissanayake 1-7 (2)

Asterix XI 68/0 (14.3)
Cuss 36* (40), Petrus 31* (47)

Code:
	      [B] Asterix XI The Flintstones[/B]
Top Order: exquisite exquisite
Middle Order: wonderful strong
Lower Order: woeful worthless
Seam Bowling: elite exceptional
Spin Bowling: masterful exceptional
Fielding: mediocre competent
League table is currently:

Code:
[B]Team Pld Won Tie Lost Points Net RR[/B]
1. Asterix XI 5 5 0 0 20 8.06
2. NorCricket United 5 4 0 1 16 7.78
3. Borderliners 5 4 0 1 16 6.79
4. Doobie Bombers 5 3 0 2 12 0.30
NorCricket play Borderliners next week, so that will knock one of them back into the pack, while I have a couple of easy matches to boost my lead (before playing Borderliners again in round 8). Should have a reasonable chance of winning the cup as well.

Both our teams in the Cup clash tomorrow are severely hampered by fitness hits. Will be crawling over the line if we get home I reckon. Team getting really strong though really, no gaps which is ace. Would actually quite like your YP Claps.

Liking this start, a few more wickets would be nice, but it'll do, given that it's a pretty tough opposition.

End of Over 18: 66-1, runrate=3.67
Tedstone 4-1-15-1
Teague* 26 (45 balls)
Hurstwick 0 (9 balls)
Last Wicket: Brydon lbw b. Tedstone 37 (FOW: 64/1)

They won the toss and batted first, making 217/5. After being 20-odd/3, we're now 139/4, with Browne just departing after a classic knock. Need Hamlin to stay in, whatever his fitness. Only Bardle to come after these two! Argggghhhhhhghghghghghghghghghgh

EDIT: Shoeshoe finishes his 10 scalping 3/34. C'mon boysssss

EDIT: Hammers departs, 143/5. Need a Hindle and Bardle masterstroke.
