Not doing too badly at the moment though...they have a couple of good spinners so it might be a difficult chase.

In a very strong position now. Bongers smashing it. Looking to bat all day tomorrow and bowl them out early on day 3.

Playing a bot, again. I forgot to rest key players as well unfortunately.

Declared on 3-503, Elmes made 263* off 228 balls.

Bot currently at 4-19.

I'll probably declare at 450 if I can get that much, and hopefully I'll be able to bowl them out for 200odd and force a win on the 3rd day.

Playing Weedon Warriors - a side had one gun bowler last time I played them, who didn't manage to take a wicket and saw his side slip to an innings and 77 runs defeat. Coppinger is now on low PFL, so in theory, this should be a walk in the park, but they've recently brought in a decent opener and a nice spin bowling all rounder, both of whom have decent PFL, so they might put up a bit of a fight. I'm resting Woods and Kepler, but Caldwell moves up to open the batting alongside Grant for the first time, and Turner is making his debut in FC cricket. Should be a good game!

I have two big essays due in on Thursday, so I really ought to be working - hopefully I'll be able to resist checking the score at every update...

Not the brilliant start from Turner I was hoping for, but it could be worse.

End of Over 9 (1 runs). Weedon Warriors: 31-0, runrate=3.44
Turner 5-0-15-0
Theobald* 13 (33 balls)
Van der merwe 15 (22 balls)

Van der Merwe is the new opener I was talking about - he's actually a YP done by Weedon Warriors in Season 5 but only made his debut a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't aware of his existence last time round. He looks fairly useful though. There should be some cheap wickets once we get through the order, with no.3 and no.5 at drained PFL, but we need to break this opening partnership first.

Well, he's taken a bit of a beating in his 6th over but Turner has made the breakthrough

End of Over 11 (10 runs). Weedon Warriors: 48-1, runrate=4.36
Turner 6-0-25-1
Van der merwe* 20 (24 balls)
Clough 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Theobald c. Bartlett b. Turner 25 (FOW: 48/1)

10.6 W Turner to Theobald
There's a loud appeal from both Turner and Bartlett. Theobald is suggesting that it flicked his shirt but the umpire sends him on his way.

Not much excitement in what will probably turn into a PFL-sapping draw ahead of Sunday's CW Cup match. Hey ho. Was vaguely tempted to tank this match in order to rest some players, but I'd like to sew up 2nd place in FC since 1st is unlikely (and double promotion would be hellish, anyway).

End of Over 26 (Maiden). hambledon Old Boys: 60-2, runrate=2.31
Wilde 4-1-14-0
Mckinley* 19 (61 balls)
Abikanile 6 (14 balls)
Last Wicket: Hayter b. Marriott 26 (FOW: 50/2)

Tricky game here against the side coming 4th. They have a better squad and players but they rested a few main players. Still though this is big innings for Muralitharan, his first competitive hundred. Big day for Murali. Really starting to come of age after his MOM against Nibbs.

Code:
End of Over 62 (5 runs). Jaffna Jets: 235-7, runrate=3.79
Lead by 127 runs. (the stevros army 108-10)
Rocastle 12-0-51-0

Last Wicket: Sishayi Run Out 7 (FOW: 152/7)

I was bowling first on a green-top, and got them all out for 36, Hirst finishing with absolutely ridiculous figures -- something like 12-8-4-7. 20/0 in reply.

The Family Ness, my opponents, are a strange bunch -- they've got some pretty tasty players, but never play them in FC. Perhaps, with four teams getting relegated automatically, they chose not to bother?

Either way, I'll see what I'm on at the end of the day, and adjust my declaration target accordingly (currently 500, to make sure I bat out the first day). If Sandwith and Reed have batted for a while, I'll probably look to wrap it up in two days.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (5 runs). Weedon Warriors: 136-4, runrate=3.89
Hennessy 1-0-5-1
Mcmenamin* 4 (2 balls)
Lak****ha 42 (50 balls)

Last Wicket: Naysmith c. Marrison b. Hennessy 5 (FOW: 131/4)

Good, competitive session, probably just about swung our way when Hennessy came on to bowl the last over before lunch and took a wicket with his first ball. Lak****ha is looking a little dangerous, and with the unknown quantity of McMenamin and decent bat Henderson still to come, Weedon Warriors have the potential to bat themselves well into this game. We need a quick wicket or two after lunch, and if we can do that, we should be able to bowl them out for somewhere between 200 and 250 before tea. Turner's second spell will be an important one, and Marrison needs to show a little more control when he comes back after lunch.

End of Over 53 (6 runs). Weedon Warriors: 205-8, runrate=3.87
Hennessy 10-1-34-4
Wharton* 11 (21 balls)
Coppinger 5 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Lak****ha c. Talbot b. Hennessy 75 (FOW: 199/8)

Great bowling from Hennessy after lunch. Marrison picked up the key wicket of McMenamin for 9 and then it's been all Hennessy since then. With Lak****ha out of the way now, we should wrap this innings up pretty fast.

Famous last words.

End of Over 66 (4 runs, 1b, 1lb). Weedon Warriors: 236-8, runrate=3.58
Liddle 10-1-28-0
Coppinger* 17 (50 balls)
Wharton 25 (57 balls)

Last Wicket: Lak****ha c. Talbot b. Hennessy 75 (FOW: 199/8)

Edit: Got them all out for 262 in the end, but not at all impressed with them hanging on for 2 batting points.

In a spot of bother here. This is turning out to be one of the least impressive days that we've had as a side - really ought to be doing better than this. Kind of wish I'd played Woods and Kepler now.

End of Over 18 (3 runs). The Heath CC: 81-3, runrate=4.50
Trail by 181 runs. (Weedon Warriors 262-10)
Clough 1-0-3-0

Very average performance today:

Weedon Warriors: 262 (72.5) Hennessy 4/34 (10)
The Heath CC: 161/5 (37) Gardiner 61 (76)

Did not expect to be 100 runs behind with only 5 wickets in hand at the end of today, especially after having Weedon Warriors at 199/8.

Fortunately I still have a bit of batting to come tomorrow with Marrison and Hennessy to come in at 8 and 9, so hopefully we should at least match their total. Regretting not playing Woods and Kepler though, these guys are far better than last time I played them.
