Well, won by 118 runs in the end, with Cuss and Gillespie dominating as usual. Cuss got 166* off 141, and Gillespie took 6-31 (reaching 101 career wickets and 50 for the season) as well as scoring 47* off 33, giving him his umpteenth MotM. There was some good efforts allround though, Gillete scoring a ton and taking two catches, and four of the five bowlers taking wickets.

Sets things up nicely at the halfway stage with 7 wins from 7, just need to do that again to get promotion to div I... easier said that done perhaps.

Managed decent ratings given my fitness is still low: proficient/competent/respectable/mediocre (top/middle/seam/spin). Hopefully will manage superb/comp/prof/comp or something if and when I GFI on fair fitness later in the season.

For posterity:

Sick of the fitness level dropping, I've played 2 games on TIE in the last couple of weeks and the fitness level has dropped one level shortly after both games. No doubt I'll get bugger all in the youth pull tomorrow as well.

bah i came home hoping to catch some of my game but they were all out for 60 in 22.2 overs (Islam 3-22, Wilmott 3-9, Atkins 2-4, Keane 2-14) and we knocked them off in 11 for the loss of Webster. not good prep for sunday
Guess you'll be winning then!

Awesome stuff. Probably the last time I'll see such an effort. Hamshaw can take a bow, and Fry deserve a mention for his effort too. whoa-yeah

is it just me or do bot sides have their batting orders in reverse? anyhow, from 13/5, then 40/7 they managed to weasel their way to 93 all out giving my side a 311 run victory although i had been predicting 380 early on in their innings. hamshaw took 4 wickets to go with his 211 runs, sheffield took 3, holmes 2 and new signing mutasa 1.

Nice, all of my top five batsmen are in the top ten league averages atm. Cuss (187.25) is in second place, and has the most runs in the league (749, second has 579) as well as the most centuries and the highest score. Berry, Bridge, Gillete and Gillespie are all averaging between 59-67 in the league, forming a solid top/middle order.

Bowling isn't quite as good, only two players in the top ten though Gillespie is completely dominating. 35w@7.63, the second-highest wicket taker only has 19. He also has the best bowling figures in a league match, and the most league 5w hauls (four, no-one else has more than one). Male is doing fairly well with 14w@20.50. I think Gillete has the most 'keeper dismissals in the league, 23 catches and 3 stumpings (all off medium-pacers...) in 7 matches so far.

Up to second on the div II promotion table as one of two unbeaten teams remaining. That won't really mean anything if I lose to Banagher Knight though. Might have to essentially forfeit a match by TIEing against the #3 team the week before I take on Banagher Knight in order to give me the best chance of beating him, though I think I could get away with TIEing my next two matches before then. I want to bolster my batting a little though as I would have lost to Banagher Knight last time if not for a Cuss solo effort. Youth pull tomorrow better be good...

I think I'll be in the same boat next season. Best I've had so far is a 19yo feeble bat with a respectable academy.

My academy is famed all around, probably not one of the best but it has still produced 1 proficient batsman, 1 competent batsman, i mediocre batsmen/respectable fielder, one competent bowler and a mediocre bowler as well as the usual feebles.

Mind you that is over a couple of seasons and my academy has been strong pretty much all season
