Well, I ended up winning by 40 or so runs. Bowling wasn't very convincing, but a win is a win. I have an easy TIE win next week but then I am coming against the better teams in my league.

He wouldn't really be worth anything, sorry alternative. Decent fielding, but his bowling is too low, as are his secondaries. You'd be better off firing him. In terms of your other problem, it can take a long time for a trainee to improve their skills (up to 12, 13 weeks depending on the age and the amount of nets), so you really just need to be patient. It takes time, but with a few good trainees, some good buys off the transfer market, and a few good YPs, you can get a pretty decent team together. I was absolutely hopeless my first season (and most of the second as well, to be honest), but it's improving a lot now.
ohh thanx for your input on it.. i have alot of ITS like 80 or something, so is it better to develop a player.. if so what is the best one.. and mind you my bowling attack is the weakness in my team..

yeh grab 3 or 4 players out of the youth academy or transfer market and then train them for a few years and you should be right!

Recovering slowly from a heart-stopping opening to my match, after losing the toss and being inserted by Dragnets. Pinch-hitter Carey went for 6, with the score on 9 in the 2nd over. No big deal, just a gamble which didn't quite come off….But then….Greening was struck in front for 11, and in no time at all we were 26/2, and staring down the barrel of a very comprehensive mauling.

However, Staveley, 53 (60) and Patel, 24 (29) are steadying the ship with an unbroken 70 run partnership, and we're currently 96/2 after 19.

Well, for a 17 year old (max ITS of 35), I normally do 12 batting, 12 bowling, then maybe 8 stamina, 2 concentration, 1 consistency (or switch them depending on what kind of player you want). The obvious downside of this is that while you may get a player with decent primaries, his secondaries will probably be rubbish. However, I feel it's still a good idea to put 12 in both batting and bowling, because you'll kick yourself if you put 12 into batting, only to end up with a YP that has a good natural bowling primary. You could always put, say, 11 into batting and bowling to give you more for secondaries. I've pulled about 5 players now, and I've done each one differently.

Edgy, nervous progress being made in the Gurs' innings at the moment. Staveley went for 66, with the score on 113/3, hitting a skyer just as he and Patel were looking set for a big match-defining partnership. Patel has taken over the role of senior partner, reaching 59* (82), so far adding 52 with Noon, who's played a curate's egg of an innings for 19* (35). He's hit four quality boundaries, but far too many dot balls for this form of the game, it's like when someone's just trying too hard for the money shots in RL cricket.

Currently 165/3 after 36, not scoring quickly enough to post a formidable total at the moment, but at least we still have some wickets in hand. Before the start I figured 300 might be a winning total - I guess that now, fingers crossed, I'd settle for 265/275

Still in the balance, but tilting towards Dragnets now with the dismissal of Noon for an eventually well compiled 42 from 51 balls. Patel is there on 74 (104), but is beginning to hit the wall just at the wrong time, and Bennett's just come in and hit a boundary. After 43 overs it's 207/4, with only Mullins to come who's much cop with the bat. Would be chuffed with 275 from here, more realistically looking at 250/260

Patel just out for a massive 96, real captain's effort, fully deserving of a hundred, but he selflessly put the team before his average. 243/4 (47.4) Up to Mullins and Bennet now! With two and a half overs left, I'd hope for 265/270, whether that'll be enough to win is anyone's guess, though I have a hunch it probably won't be.

Well definitely won't be now, made a total cat's *** of my last couple of overs, and ended up with 255/8, about thirty runs short of a score which would cause them real trouble against my attack. Then again, not a bad recovery considering I was 26/2 with Greening back in the hutch!

The world's looking a much nicer place after lunch. Dragnets flew out of the blocks, reaching 67 in no time, with Strong Bewers hit out of the attack. But sometimes it's guile rather than brute force which wins the day, cue Bridges M to remove Donaldson, their Sup+ batsman, caught by Mullins off a top edged sweep for 26. He went on to bag No.3 Wing, and then Bent got Walters, their other Gun, and now they're languishing on 86/3 after 20! The RRR creeping up over five and a half, and I'm now well into their Woe-rated middle order, so, touch wood, I reckon it's plain sailing from here on in!

Later, Trev:-)

I posted this a month ago, and Munroe has increased by 2000 in BTR but his wages have stayed exactly the same? I thought wages went up with BTR? Am I wrong?

Made a good start against Pebble Street who are currently #2 in the league and beat me last time we met:

Pebble Street CC won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Green

End of Over 5: 12-1, runrate=2.40
Louis 3-0-9-1
Potter* 8 (13 balls)
Collymore 0 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Dobie c. Ashton b. Louis 4 (FOW: 12/1)

They've got two good batsmen, Potter who is in now (former U19) and Le Roux who is in next (current U19), and an NT bowler who regularly destroys my batting lineup. Am TIEing to save fitness for the cup final, so will be v. happy if I win today. My cup opponent has a tough match as well, would be ideal for me if he loses today.
