Well I said I probably wouldn't go out and buy someone expensive, but this guy had too much potential to turn down:

Max Lisbie (52694)
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, proficient batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: Scaly Piscine CC
Nationality: England
Age: 22 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 22,224
Wages: £3,104 p/w

Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: proficient Concentration: proficient
Bowling: respectable Consistency: strong
Fielding: mediocre

Doesn't appear that great on the face of it... but look at the wage. That wage means they're about 75% of the way up the sublevels overall. Give them bowling + batting + fielding I'm likely to see primary and secondary pops very quickly (then I'll stop training them in all probability). Obviously they need stamina training, but with them just being a medium bowler it doesn't take so much out of them - it's always a bonus when all-rounders just bowl medium pace or spin.

So basically with a decent number of net sessions they'll be strong-strong/proficient-superb with mediocre stamina worth in excess of 1 million, I paid 450k for them so that's a better return in investment than I'll get with creaming interest.

Hmm interesting, I was thinking of buying him myself but the stamina put me off as I don't have room to train it (and I'm only really looking for a bowler anyway). Still it's a good buy and once you get his stamina up to a useful level he should be a good player.

Yea, I can make room for their nets because they'll be one of my best batters and bowlers and my other trainees only need one net at a time (I'm not training Dillon in batting at the moment because I figure it'll be a bit wasted when he's going to be moulded into a number 5 or 6). I'll probably not even pick Lisbie for a while as they'll be on four nets and their personal fitness level will take a beating (I figure it's best to get the PFL beating over as quickly as possibly while they can't play effectively anyway).

Slight bonus, Lisbie had a batting net 3 days ago. Hoping to sell a few players over the week before I go and spend it on expanding my ground a bit.

Can't believe how badly managed Lisbie was at the previous club, to leave them at abysmal stamina... then they've got them bowling 10 straight through and opening the batting.

Should get our first wave of quality players this season. If all goes to plan Duggan should be not far off of reaching remarkable. The weak links are probably henshaw and willets, and to a lesser extent fry. i'm also at a bit of a hiatus with wheat. he's proven himself to be a great keeper, but not so great with the bat, although he has had some great moments, scoring a couple of century, although they've all come against crappy opposition. If i'm able to get him into another batting net at some stage, I will, but otherwise when the time comes I may look at replacing him and training up a new better keeper to take whenuapai into the next age!

Why do you keep referring to a player as them?

How can Duggan be close to remarkable when he is only superb?

I assume nibbs means he'll be ~remarkable by the end of the season.

And yes, that guy is definitely worth it.

Ahh ok. This guy is also tempting, especially with better secondries though he is one level lower in batting and one year older.

I will probably go for that remarkable guy i posted above, if i get him ill try train his stamina and batting a bit.

edit: I mean this guy

The semi finals of the World cup quite evenly poised

with SL putting 320 on England on a flat pitch i reckon they can chase it but crazier things have happened and Eng are a ittle behind the RRR but no wickets down

05/05/2006 Sri Lanka v England

England won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Flat

End of Over 20: 117-0, runrate=5.85, reqrunrate=6.80 (320-4)
Liyanarachchi 5-0-33-0
Bullivant* 59 (54 balls)
Nokes 49 (67 balls)

And in the trans tasman duel NZ have a huge advantage in restricting Aus to only 264
and now well infront of the run rate an minor upset is on the cards
Seaby is the key

05/05/2006 New Zealand v Australia

Australia won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Hard and Fast

End of Over 20: 115-3, runrate=5.75, reqrunrate=5.00 (264-9)
Heselton 3-0-19-0
Edge* 15 (15 balls)
Seaby 28 (27 balls)

Last Wicket: Henshaw lbw b. Brooker 48 (FOW: 83/3)

England v Sri Lanka is interesting.

England 206/0 (36 overs) requiring another 115 runs off 14 @ 8.21.

Should do it but that RRR is going up quite quickly.

New Zealand wearing the pants now:

End of Over 38: 205-5, runrate=5.39, reqrunrate=5.00 (264-9)
Woodward 9-0-50-1
Edge* 50 (64 balls)
Coburn 22 (25 balls)

Last Wicket: Mcconville lbw b. Brooker 0 (FOW: 159/5)
