Successfully defended 178 against a team from II.1 in SA to win by 11 runs...even though my order was messed up having my two best batsmen at 4 & 5 so they didn't get in till the end of the innings.

Reporter's Summary
Lancashire Overs Limited
Top Order: respectable proficient
Middle Order: strong mediocre
Lower Order: abysmal woeful
Seam Bowling: superb strong
Spin Bowling: superb competent
Fielding: mediocre feeble

Thanks to a txt msg from a mate, I found out late yesterday evening that I had a game at 00:30. I managed to set team orders in time, using the wonder of mobile phone internet -- while sitting in a coach and heading to a brewery (Thornbridge, nr Sheffield -- VERY fine ales, brewed in a stunning country house rather than the usual run-down industrial estate).

I got back after midnight, and went out drinking...then remembered about it all on the bus home and managed to follow the last 14 or so overs of the game...it was fairly nerve-wracking, but Sandwith and Hayward took me home, with an unbroken stand of 48 for the 5th wicket. I'd bowled the opposition out for 110, Brooker doing a Malinga and taking 4 in 4 from the last 4 balls of the 20th over.

Ratings:

Batting
Them Exceptional/Comp/Feeb
Me Strong/Strong/Abys

Bowling & Fielding
Them Quality/Mediocre & Mediocre
Me Remarkable/Sensational & Feeble

I definitely wasn't expecting such a tough opponent so early! Well, that's one half-decent Aussie team knocked out :)

Incidentally, I've just been emailed these, as posted by Raptornex in Aussie sledging:

WEATHER WIN STATS

Overcast and Cold
Batting first: 48.73%
Batting second: 51.27%

Partially cloudy
Batting first: 45.92%
Batting second: 54.08%

Partially cloudy and windy
Batting first: 50%
Batting second: 50%

Partially cloudy and humid
Batting first: 45.75%
Batting second: 54.25%

Sunny
Batting first: 45.92%
Batting second: 54.1%

Granted they'll be off due to bots batting first by default but even so...

You've probably all seen them already, mind. Pity he hasn't done the same for pitch type.

Those stats were posted a week or so ago, I think they're based on league matches this season rather than the Twenty20 stuff (raptornex is the guy responsible for batstats). There's more detailed stuff pertaining to average scores for different pitch and weather types if you can be bothered finding the thread.

Edit: Scaly deleted the post that this was in reply to, meh.

Yar, lost as expected today to an English team pretty much a level better than me in everything. Didn't actually take a wicket in my 20 overs, and they only got 4.

Man, you do take your BT stuff seriously don't you...., no punches held....:p

Congrats on getting him. :)

Transfer market rage. Probably paid over the odds for him but meh, his previous owner claims he's a few weeks from masterful so I'm happy. Should be able to get his consistency half decent with a fielding net. Got a bit under 5m left for the fifth bowler having just sold strong/prof bat Malik for 2.1m, so my bowling should be pretty decent but batting will be a bit lighter than usual.

The market's all yours now, good luck finding someone to buy.

Yeah it's a nightmare at the moment. I've been sitting on this money for almost a month now and still no closer to getting a half decent bowler really and while I wait, I have a 17yo trainee who is prof and a turd who is competent. Which team bumped the price up towards the end?

Thinking I'm only going to be able to get a sensational at max with my money now. Which sucks.

The Badgers.

I think you'd probably struggle to get a sensational for under 10m unless they had <quality secondaries anyway, which is fairly uncommon. I find it a bit surprising how much of a difference there is between prices for batsmen and bowlers at the top end of the market - Allan's miraculous batsman only sold for just over 9m, while an equivalent bowler would have been pushing 13m. I can understand why bowlers would be valued more, but that big a difference seems ridiculous (which is why I was trying to buy that other miraculous batsman with prof bowling before).

Sorry, I meant exceptional. I haven't been to these heady heights before so got confused.

Taking into account what you were saying about prices varying between batsmen and bowlers, do you reckon this guy is worth an initial bid of 8.5m? I was looking at him and trying to think clearly rather than desperately grabbing anything I can. His conc is turd but he's still pretty young.

RH Batsman, RF Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A steady player with worthless leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: Cc lycksele
Nationality: Australia
Age: 20 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 50,386
Wages: £16,616 p/w
Stamina: strong Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: exceptional Concentration: competent
Bowling: strong Consistency: strong
Fielding: woeful

Problem is that I need a bowler more desperately than I do a batsman but I need a couple of batsmen too. So I was thinking of purchasing this chap and giving him a bowling and fielding net? Would that improve the conc?

Yea, looks that way with his BTR when compared to one of my players who has a similar set of skills to compare with. Anyway back to praying I get some great YPs early on next season and can buy a decent 5th bowler myself...

What do you reckon about the guy in the post above SP?

I've been doing some research and if I give him one bat, one bowl and one field he'll be something like this by the end of the season?

Batting: sensational Concentration: strong

Got another game i should win, the guy has a decent top order (superb) but only respectable seam bowling and no spin so i put my best 3 batsmen up top.
