Hi,
All plodding along, on and off the field, though stony broke in both versions of reality. So I've put 19YO Prof Bat Bennett on the market for a speculative £1.5M, just to see if I can get any bites. I figured that my season is virtually over, after losing the title-defining match of my Friendly league. In IV.11 I'm sitting fourth, with a twelve point cushion over fifth-placed Victoria Drivers, and to very winnable matches before facing them to make certain. So whilst I'm not yet mathematically home and hosed, I'd be really disappointed if two more wins didn't do it for me.

So I can just about cope without Bennett for the time being, although I wouldn't say I was desperate to sell. It's simply that 19yo Profs are going for about the same price as 17yo Resps, sometimes even more, so what's the point in hanging on to him, when I could trade him in for someone younger and potentially better, and probably still have enough change to improve the fag-end of my bowling attack?

Training is slow going at the moment, nobody is on more than one primary net, and everyone had just popped when I suspended training for fat-camp, so now all my trainees are plus six or seven weeks, putting me still eight to ten weeks away from my next primary pop. Which is another reason why I'd like a new trainee, as whilst the general standard of my team is pretty good now, I don't have many with the potential to go on to be true guns, in the wider context of the game. Until now I'd concentrated on getting the general level of the team up to a balanced strong or so, but it seems as though even that can get pummelled by a side with mainly Comps and Resps supplemented by two or three Wands or better.

I've never had a double ton either, though hopefully that could all change tomorrow. I'm playing a semi-bot with Abs seam and Use Spin, and I've chosen to bat in an attempt to have at least one innings to watch tomorrow. The lucky openers are Sup/Resp Staveley and Qual/Med Greening, so hopefully there could be fireworks. Though I'll get my excuses in first, as the two potential sticking points are that their pitch is permanently uneven, and their fielding is Feeb - Pretty high compared to most human teams and remarkably high for a Bot! However, it could all be irrelevant, as they choose to bat every time they win the toss, in which case my openers will be lucky to get double figures, as Berserkers have only passed twenty batting first on two occasions this season…(Mumbles into his sleeve)…One of those was against me, when they posted 135!! However in my defence, I was still in the Cup at the time, so I played a hodgepodge mix of Med misfits.

BTW, Is anyone who's not in the CW Cup looking for a friendly? Greg? I'll be playing a pretty weak reserve side. I've got a weak off in my friendly league, and I'd just like to try and keep the cash rolling in.

Hi Trev.

I don't have a friendly organised. I'm actually organising a smaller cup with the people who missed out on being in this cup. We need a 6th team to make it even. Are you interested?

Sorry mate, I've only got this weekend free as there are nine teams in the league and it just happens that it's my turn to sit a round out. But as I say, I'm free on Sunday if that's any use to you or anyone else?

Batting First in a bottom of the table Clash.

Definetly a winnable game on my behalf!!!

Stroud getting me off to a flyer!!

Code:
End of Over 5: 43-0, runrate=8.60
Arnison 3-0-25-0
Ludlow* 16 (14 balls)
Stroud 25 (16 balls)

4.3 4 Arnison to Stroud
Splits the off side field with a delicious square cut. He will enjoy seeing that one again later.
4.2 . Arnison to Stroud
Real venom in that ball, just short of a good length. Stroud sways well out of the way of that snorter!
4.1 6 Arnison to Stroud
New balls please!! That ball has been hit out of the ground!
3.2 6 Pearse to Stroud
Clipped away off his legs, but he's timed the shot so well that it clears the boundary.
2.6 4 Arnison to Stroud
Overpitched outside off stump and that's an open invitation to Stroud to help himself, very nicely driven through cover, no need to run for that.

After a getting off to a flyer, Clapo's XI was restricted during the middle overs with a mix of tight bowling, and wickets at regular intervals. However another Century for Appleyard, who continued on from his great form against GotSpin, and some brilliant finishing from Tracey got us to 6-267 from the 50.

End of Over 50: 267-6, runrate=5.34
Bolder 10-0-56-0
Walton* 4 (5 balls)
Tracey 42 (35 balls)

Last Wicket: Appleyard c. Fox b. Arnison 101 (FOW: 253/6)

Looking for a strong bowling performance from Meyer & Groves to seal the match!!

Nearly managed to bowl out Defoetus, thanks largely to Lovegroves last over:

End of Over 50: 284-9, runrate=5.68
Lovegrove 10-0-44-7
Bradford* 1 (1 balls)
Jackson 49 (33 balls)

Last Wicket: Duff lbw b. Lovegrove 0 (FOW: 283/9)

49.6 . Lovegrove to Jackson
Stroked back down the pitch.
49.5 1 Lovegrove to Bradford
Bradford just guides that down to thirdman for a single.Good cricket.
49.4 W Lovegrove to Duff
Lovegrove, Wilkey and Unsworth appeal till their faces go purple! Slowly but surely, the finger goes up.
49.3 W Lovegrove to Hardiker
Got him! Clean bowled!
49.2 W Lovegrove to Lucky
A swing and a miss. Clean bowled.
49.1 W Lovegrove to Monk
That's a brave decision by the umpire, looked like it might have been sliding down leg to me. Monk certainly looks upset, but he's got to go.

That makes i think the first hattrick in DCC's history

Will hopefully be able to chase this total and stay on top of that table

A great opening spell from Meyer has me slightly ahead at this stage. Wouldn't mind another wicket or 2 in the next block of 10 though
