Playing against the weakest side in my league today. Bottled it and decided to PAN rather than TIE - thought I'd see how big the gulf in class was and maybe TIE in the rematch.

The Heath CC: 118-1 (21) Grant 59* (65 balls) Sutton 46* (45 balls)

My two best batsmen are in now so I'm hoping they'll make hay and we'll have a decent NRR boost at the end of the game.

Edit: Sutton out for 52, which brings my new trainee Kepler to the crease for his first innings in the league. He's destructive and set to attacking, so I'm hoping he'll kick off and score some fast runs. We shall see...

156-2 (29)

Well, I'm in deep trouble against spit-fire's bunch -- they're 216/4 with five overs left, on a dusty pitch. I reckon this could end up another heavy defeat, given the way my team's been batting recently.

Just logged in to see I've taken one wicket in 45.3 overs so far on a cracked pitch. Wicket went to my crap medium pacer.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Grant out for 132 to leave me 257-4 with 4.1 overs yet. It'd be nice to beat my previous best of 305, disappointed Grant couldn't carry his bat through though.

we lost a wicket early however skipper 100*(114)
and Longthorn 76*(84) where great.

Well, I recovered well to restrict my opponents to 244/9.

In response, Perry and Fish did what they were supposed to -- take the shine off the new ball, and then get out. A bit sooner than I'd hoped, but it'll do.

McGregor and Sandwith then set about accumulating some runs, until McGregor got out trying to force the pace.

So, the old firm of Sandwith and Reed in now, facing a bowler who's Exquisite or thereabouts. 97/3 off 22...I need a century partnership if I'm to win this match.

Can't believe that exceptional/masterful allrounder went so cheap (12.6m, to Brianstar in Scaly's league). Prices seem to have crashed massively since earlier in the season when PY and I were looking for bowlers.

Just upgraded my ground to 53,000, though judging by my gate receipts for today (£358,717) the attendance is still under 50k. Playing Doobie Bombers, should win despite them buying an exquisite/exquisite bat earlier today, they don't really have any bowlers of note.

In serious danger of losing a match I should have walked in my sleep.

Rehtakul Veets CC&FC 209 A/O, (46), Bewers 9/1/36/7, including a double hattrick,Cash 2/47, Carlton 1/37.

In reply I was cruising at 80/1 and 120/2, going at around six an over, now the arse has fallen out of my innings and I'm 152/4 after 26. Down to Staveley, 42*, and Cash, 9*, to see me home now, another slip up could be fatal...Although the RRR is still only about 2.4!

Yea, somewhat irritating really. A player like that was always going to go below what they're really worth tho anyway.

As for me:

End of Over 26: 135-4, runrate=5.19, reqrunrate=4.04 (231-2)
Mccloud 3-0-28-0
Armstrong* 29 (34 balls)
Dillon 10 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Wheat Run Out 28 (FOW: 117/4)

The fast bowlers on show haven't taken a single wicket yet. Summers, Pace on my side while they have a guy who averages 4.93 in the league this season and his 7 overs went for over 30. The pitch? Cracked...

Meanwhile their awesome competent rated spin attack has all 4 of my wickets off its bowling (2 were run out, but you may as well just give those to the bowler in Battrick).

Hmm, seems he's left the recently-acquired exquisite bat out of the lineup (though he's definitely been online since the purchase). Can only assume it's either a PFL issue (can't see what the PFL is now obviously) or a match order stuff up.

Mccloud getting slightly hammered. Dillon making up for his rubbish bowling analysis.

Quite close to winning the game. The tailenders putting up a small fight, but it'll be over soon.

Pretty boring stuff so far, got their best batsman out (their best batsman in the starting XI, anyway) but not much else happening.

Asterix XI won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 10: 18-1, runrate=1.80
Watkins 5-1-7-1
Swanepoel* 7 (35 balls)
Barnes 1 (4 balls)
Last Wicket: Sturgess c. Ashton b. Watkins 8 (FOW: 16/1)

Edit: 19-3 now.

Hmm, Harewood's first over: W . 1 6 . 4

Certainly lives up to the 'destructive' tag, little wonder I don't trust him with the new ball anymore.

Comfy run chase at more than 6.5 an over, marred only slightly by two late wickets. But but! got my first proficient batting rating ever (largely thanks to an order shuffle), and (I think) my first PAN respectable seam rating. Hup!

Thirteenamo Kiev 269-10 (50.0ov) Hinds 69, Oleary 4-55
Beard XI 270-2 (41.3ov) Platt 124, Bromby 102

Code:
		Beard XI	Thirteenamo Kiev
Top Order:	proficient	feeble
Middle Order:	feeble feeble
Lower Order:	worthless	worthless
Seam Bowling:	respectable	feeble
Spin Bowling:	feeble useless
Fielding:	woeful woeful

Bowled them out for 55. Watkins 1-7, Downer 1-13, Harewood 3-29, Whitehorne 4-1 (Mattis DNB).

Thinking of selling Mattis, he's only been required bowled in three matches out of eight so far, so it might be worth developing a batsman instead, which is something I do need.

Made it home by the skin of my bum cheeks, largely thanks to a bit of unbattrickesque wagging from the tail.

Rehtakul Veets CC&FC 209 A/O (46.4): Bailey 104, Byrne 40, McCarthy 38, Bewers 7/36 (8.4), Cash 2/47, Carlton 1/37
Cymru Gurgitaters 210/6 (40.5): Greening 83 (64), Staveley 77* (71), Bewers 4* (23)

Was 159/5 at one stage, then 193/6, so quite relieved with the win.

Rehtakul Veets CC&FC Cymru Gurgitaters
Top Order:
Strong quality
Middle Order: respectable respectable
Lower Order: abysmal abysmal
Seam Bowling: proficient strong
Spin Bowling: superb proficient
Fielding: feeble feeble
MOTM: Bewers

Now getting regular Strong for seam on Pan, and my first ever Qual Top order, without Staveley, Greening and Noon all at the top. In a bit of a quandary about what to do in my Cup game on Sunday. Oppo's ratings are Wond/Sup/Abs - Wond/Sup/Med. With the gun three at the top of the order, mine will be something like Wond/(Med/Comp)/Abs - Strong/Prof/Feeb. What I had intended doing was to hope that Cash and Patel on V.Def could bung up their best bowlers for a while, with Noon, greening and Staveley 3, 4 and 5 to launch a counter attack from the middle order. That would give me ratings along the lines of (Resp/Prof)/Strong/Abs - Strong/Prof/Feeb. Cricket-wise that would make more sense to me, but BT-wise I'm not sure it does, as at least with the guns up the order I can equal his Seam and trump his Spin?

Any thoughts? Tar, Trev
