Just bidded on this guy:

Battrick » Player Details
Christopher Sekgoma (960298)
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, strong batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A defensive player with competent leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: Toongabbie Hawks
Nationality: Australia
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 6,516
Wages: £991 p/w

Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: competent
Batting: respectable Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: feeble

I'm not really fussed how far he is away from a batting pop, but how long would it take for him to reach competent stamina on one net? If I get him I might put him in for one keeping, one batting and one fitness.
13-18 weeks

Stamina takes 6 weeks to pop, obviously when you've not trained someone before you don't know how high the stamina sublevel is initially as in the case above. So the first pop could take anything from 1 to 6 weeks, then after that you know it'll be 6 weeks (or very occasionally 5).

I did have a 19yo prof/comp going for ~500k - Geraint Jones - but he was crap anyway.
The day I ever buy anyone called Geraint Jones... ;)

Robertinho said:
You would definitely get a good price for a qual/qual, but I'd wait for him to pop to remarkable before selling him - I think there's a massive perceived gap between the 2 levels which could mean alot more (or alot less) profit.
Very true.

Robertinho said:
How many nets do you think you'll have free by the start of next season? I'd definitely recommend picking up a 17yo and putting him on 2 batting nets - not losing too much to the diminishing returns but you get 2 full pops a season (at least) - so with a high Resp (like in Bhutia's case), he'd be Superb by the time he turned 18.
All sensible stuff - thanks! I've got fielding and stamina nets which'll probably be freed up later this season. So, two batting nets on a 17yo may well be the way to go.

Got this bloke debuting tomorrow, batting at 7 and bowling first change:

Billy House - 17 yo, BT Rating=7,679
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: feeble
Bowling: proficient Consistency: feeble
Fielding: woeful

Should be interesting to see how he goes as he's forced out long time servant Edward Colley.

Will probably get hammered toward the end of their spell (might get away with it sometimes with 5 over spells). Good prospect tho.

Well what a mean trick to play on a blind guy! I go away for a couple of weeks, and you all move somewhere else! Reminds me of the time we all snuck out of a music lesson at school, and left our blind teacher teaching an empty classroom.

I've actually been back in work for a few days now, but it's been the week from hell, more of which I'll post on OT, but suffice to say it's taken me this long to get through what I've missed.

All's good with The Gurs now, fourth in my league, level on points with the top three with five wins and a loss. Playing the third-placed side tomorrow, and think I'm in with a reasonable chance. I say *think*, as whilst it should be a formality according to the ratings, in an absolutely ridiculous BT aberration, tomorrow's opponents turned over Potato Heads a couple of weeks ago, the league-leaders, and far and away the best side in our division. Without having the exact stats to hand, Potato Heads were at least a level better in all respects, and even two in some areas. But at least it's kept the division interesting into the second half of the season. I don't think I can go up this year, A, I don't think I can win all the four remaining key matches, and B, even if I did, my NRR is around 6.5 inferior to Potato Heads', so I've got a lot of ground to make up. However, with the league effectively splitting into two halves, I find myself with a twelve point cushion over fifth-placed Victoria Drivers, which doesn't exactly make me safe yet, but would definitely have been beyond my wildest ambitions at the start of the campaign.

My Best CI, Rob, get your red pen handy!

1. Alton Staveley - 21 - Comp Stam - Sup/Resp
2. Steve Cash - 30 - Comp Stam - Resp/Prof Bat, (Strong/Med LHS, B4)
3. Joe Noon+ - 20 - Resp Stam - Prof/Resp Bat, (Resp WK)
4. Doug Greening - 20 - Comp Stam - Qual/Med
5. Neale Patel* - 21 - Resp Stam - Prof/Resp Bat (Sup/Feeb lead)
6. Jordan Bennett - 19 - Resp Stam - Prof/Feeb
7. Anton Carey - 21 - Comp Stam - Resp/Woe
8. Gene Bewers - 20 - Comp Stam - Feeb/Feeb Bat, (Sup/Resp LM, B1)
9. Brad Edworthy - 29 - Comp Stam - Woe/Med (Resp/Med RFM, B2)
10. Theo Bent - 29 - Resp Stam - Abs/Woe, (Resp/Feeb RFM, B5)
11. Shaun Bridges M - 22 - Abs/Abs, (Sup/Prof RHS, B3)

Main priority is to replace Edworthy and Bent, ideally via Yps, as I'm a bit tight for cash at the moment.

Nets:
Staveley 1Bat
Cash 1Field
Noon 1Bat +1WK
Greening 1Bat +1WK
Patel 1Bat
Bennett 1Bat +1Field
Bewers 1Bowl

BTW, how quickly can I expect secondary pops on a 30YO with one fielding net? I'm presuming that, given how scarce they are on a youngster, that they'll be every four/five weeks on someone that age? Plus does anyone know about how and when players will deteriorate with age?

Good to be back, catch ya soon, Trev

Hey Trev, good to see you back mate.

Anyway, we've organised a friendly CW Battrick Cup to start next week (I believe it's the 5th of November if I remember correctly). Anyway, we figured you'd be interested so here's the link to the thread: Battrick Cup Part Four

Hope you can join (Y)

Sorry, I arranged it as the CW Cup game, then accepted Scaly's invite when I realised we weren't starting until next week. My bad.
