Would be interesting to hear the rationale though.

Here. They are discussing Gilly vs Flower and he is asked who is the better keeper.Could you provide a link to the video?
Knott batted in a horrible era. His batting should be boosted by a few points.Dujon was capable of some fantastic innings, while pulling in everything, Knott had some clutch innings.
Also averages 41 at 7, which is damn good on itself. Sangakkara and Walcott has similar average while keeping.Knott batted in a horrible era. His batting should be boosted by a few points.
First off, that discussion highlighted a lot, and not much of it positive tbh.Here. They are discussing Gilly vs Flower and he is asked who is the better keeper.
I respect Jarrod's view moreso than other pundits (though in this case they are picking a lefties XI and didn't even mention Graeme Pollock, unforgivable).
But Knott is a full on all rounder for me tbh. And without doubt the 2nd best wicketkeeper batsman of all time. Also averages 41 at 7, which is damn good on itself. Sangakkara and Walcott has similar average while keeping.
Yeah, Walcott and Sanga basically offered a similar average with worse keeping. But Knott is a full on all rounder for me tbh. And without doubt the 2nd best wicketkeeper batsman of all time.
Jarrod doesn't give extra points for keepers being athletic per se. Emphasizes keepers being clean and technically sound. Rates Taylor ahead of Knott I think. Also suggest Les Ames should be rated Gilly level as he had better keeper skills.Anyone who watched those guys with the gloves and says Flower was better, loses any credibility.
Was Flower an average keeper? Did he drop many? It's one thing to claim Flower wasn't a bad keeper. It's another to claim he was better than Gilchrist (who was genuinely excellent with the gloves). It's one of the worst cricket opinions I've ever heard.
Yeah I just don't recall his keeping being bad at all. There is zero evidence to suggest Andy Flower was not a good keeper but some people suggest as if he is Kamran Akmal.
ABD was actually a very good keeper and averaged 57 with the bat too.De Villiers
Yeah he was a good keeper, the only thing against him is his small sample size as a keeper.ABD was actually a very good keeper and averaged 57 with the bat too.
So yeah, small sample size.It is not just the small sample size only imo
He was a keeper in just 20% of tests he played
So basically the issue is small sample sizeIt is not just the small sample size only imo
He was a keeper in just 20% of tests he played
Taylor over Knott wasn't a bold take, Ames didn't especially have a great record vs his one valid opponent of his time, but sure.Jarrod doesn't give extra points for keepers being athletic per se. Emphasizes keepers being clean and technically sound. Rates Taylor ahead of Knott I think. Also suggest Les Ames should be rated Gilly level as he had better keeper skills.
I'll be honest, I have no recollection of Flower as keeper but if he was the same level as Gilly it's an interesting conversation then
Ok but what are you giving Gilly extra points for over Flower? Not to be pedantic. Just for my clarification. But he wasn't nearly on the same level as Gilly.
