I heard that he didn't know he was trade bait this year til it appeared in the press and then wasn't told the deal with Carlton wasn't going ahead til he heard that in the media as well. That's not a good way of handling the situation by the team management. It is hard though, the trade week set up makes it very hard for the teams and players.
Did not know that.

But every year his name is up. In 2006 there was going to be a Bradshaw to Geelong & James Kelly to Brisbane trade or something.

I remember hearing something again in 2007 or 2008.

Ah well.

Funny that both players to walk out (Smith and Bradshaw) probably have about 3 games in them til one of their legs snap off.

The Age now saying Carlton and Sydney both offering him a million and three year contract. Bradshaw's played this so well.

Don't particularly like the guy, but am looking forward to buying The King's book.

I think his career/life is a fascinating story.

Slightly illogical pick up for them really. They're rebuilding, and although they probably only want to go down for one year, two max, Bradshaw will surely be finished by the time they come back up.

On the other hand, I suppose they're getting him for the price of a PSD selection and a spot on the list, and there's a limit to how useful a fourth round draft selection is going to be.

Will be funny watching Craig Hutchence have a sulk because Sydney don't "fall off a cliff" as he's been declaring as a certainty for the last couple of years. ****wit doesn't know ****.

Reckon it's not the worst thing. It gives big Jesse White some time to come into his own, rather than being lumped with the responsibility of being their main key forward when he's still developing.

Not sure what to make of picking up Williams, essentially we got him cheap but is he any good?

Anyone here rate him?

Reckon he's not the worst pick-up, and will take the pressure off Neagle and Gumbleton, and provide a target if Gumbleton remains injury prone.

Watched him in the VFL a few weeks back, didn't look too flash.
Played a ripping game against Geelong, and then didn't bother showing up the next week again Port (or I think it was). Know some guys who have played with him, just enigmatic and likes being the focus of the footy coming down.

Just had a look through his stats and was pleasantly surprised to see he has kicked 60+ goals twice and had a very good final series last year kicking 5 in the prelim and 3 in the GF. At 26 seems like a decent pick up.

An interesting link to a consideration of the AFL draw. Unfortunately it's written in 05 so doesn't take into account the eventual 18 team competition but it does look at a conference system should we eventually get 20 teams. The permutations for how you might structure the league to ensure blockbusters but also some equality are given.

16 Into 22 Won't Go
