Thought it was pretty much nailed on he's going to Port?

Essendon will use one oftheir mid 20's picks on Ball.
What if Ball tells the Dons he's not interested in playing for them? Reckon he'd go before that in any case this year.

Hope Cloke avoids Port. Felt bad enough when we trade him to Carlton, if that then led to him ending up in Alberton, would really feel guilty.

Cam Cloke delisted by Carlton. A Richmond, Melbourne or Freo could do worse than spend a PSD pick on the guy to give them some time for their youngsters to develop. He's a fringe AFL player, but there were worse players getting a regular game at those clubs last year, and he could play a role.

Essendon sounding more interested in Ball, if he slips that far. Hoping we can manage to manipulate the situation to the point he slides to 30 for the Pies to pick up, and stick it to the Saints.
Was always going to happen pre-Fev leaving but now with our forward line being depleted and all I thought there'd be a good chance of him staying on up the front. Hope we take Maguire, is needed up back, dunno how well Waite and Jameson are going to recover after so long out.

Yeah, you've said you're not interested in Robbo as well. Betts is going to need to kick a lot of goals next year.

Ratten said (whether tongue in cheek or not, couldn't tell based on the news report) that he may play Judd at FF

Fair enough, given the writing was on the wall for players of vintage. Unfortunately, probably makes it easier for you to take Ball.

C. Cloke meeting with Hawthorn.

I don't think it's a good idea for Carlton to be trying to build their side around ring-ins, or more specifically, a hybrid of ring-ins and a few number one draft picks. Fremantle tried using experienced recruits before they had the structure for them to fit into, and, well...

But maybe that's just Freo.

Sad day when 27 yrs old is vintage tbh.

I agree with you though, don't see much wrong with what McPhee did UNLESS he hid it from Essendon and didn't suggest he'd leave until after trade week. Essendon could have got something for him at least.

Ball reportedly still refusing to even speak with anyone bar Collingwood. Good man.
There's a part of me that hopes he gets where he wants to go, I think he'd do quite well at Collingwood. There's also a part of me, the (word rhyming with 'runty') part of me that is curious to see how it plays out if Essendon or Brisbane pick him up. It'd be pretty funny if he chucked a tanty and went overseas for a year.

On a different note, does anyone here have any draft hopefuls in mind they want to see their team pick up? Sounds like Lewis Jetta is almost a certainty at 7, but picks 22 and 23 will be very interesting. Callum Bartlett looks like a very skilled player but is expected to drop because he did his knee and missed most of the year, but these days many of those guys who slide come out of it OK (see Joel Selwood). If Brad Sheppard slides I'd like him, otherwise Travis Colyer would be one guy I'd hope to pick up. He's from the Jake King school of undersized douchebags but he's ****ing quick and has some good skills when he goes for a run.

If Bartlett's there at 21 would hope we take him.

Cunnington at 5, Bartlett at 21 and someone like Griffiths at 25 would be nice.

Hope Ball goes to Essendon or Brisbane as well

If Bartlett goes at 21 I'll be gutted. He's not the prototypical North Melbourne sort of player, but he'd definitely add something that's missing from the side with his silky skills. I'd also speculate that after the Jesse Smith debacle that your club would be be pretty wary of players with all the skill in the world that come with knee problems. Perhaps they'd rather leave it to a club with a better record of nursing those types, though having said that I really hope Geelong don't get him at 17 - the last thing they need is another draft steal.

I don't think there's much chance of Griffiths being available at 25, sounds like Richmond are very sweet on him at 19. I think I'd prefer Carlisle over Griffiths if you're picking a KP in the late first/early second round, but he's just as likely to be gone by 25.

Cunnington though will be a star. Even if Freo pips you for him and you get Morabito, that's no loss.

Jesse didn't have a knee problem. Nathan Grima and Leigh Harding both came back fine from full knee recons recently, in Hardings case he came back a much better player.

We just aren't good at rehabilitating people with degenerative ankle problems that prefer to play xbox rahter than participate in rehab.

If we take cunnington at 5 then Bartlett is preciscely the kind of player we will need at 21/25 hopefully to complement an engine room of Zeibell/Swallow/Cunnington in the future
