so who was happy with what there team drafted????
It's all fluff at the moment until they actually start playing. Thompson is stuck in the 90s though. In today's football pace is most relevant off half back and through the centre square yet he keeps drafting 175/180cm one dimensional wingman (Hogan this year, Tenace, Byrnes, Varcoe etc.), the game has moved beyond that. The Swans and Bulldogs get most of their pace and line breaking ability off half back through Kennelly, Gilbee, Griffin etc. while the Eagles have Judd and Kerr who are phenomenal at using their pace to break from contested situations through the centre square.
Meanwhile Geelong's half back line reads Milburn, Egan, Harley, and the centre square trio of Corey, Bartel and Ling, you couldn't get a slower set of six if you tried. On top of that you have burst players with zero stamina in Tenace (180cm) and Byrnes (175cm) on the wings while the opposition have evolved to 190cm players with massive tanks like Goodes, Embley, C.Cornes etc. that drift forward and kick goals.
Djerrkura should add a little bit of pace and bite to the centre square at least and obviously Hawkins is a massive bonus but Thompson continues to ignore drafting pacey, rebounding defenders and in modern football, with the change in rules to encourage fast ball movement, is just incredibly ignorant.
