Freo did bloody well IMO. They've got a good batch of young players and can afford to try and top up a bit to get them to the next level. Tarrant should slot in well, given, as mentioned he won't have to be the sole focal point and take the best defender - he's a fair CHF or forward flanker to support their already good forward line. Soloman is a gamble, but might provide a bit of the mongrel and finals experience to help them out. He might also help Tarrant settle and play some decent footy.

I think its a pretty good deal for the Pies as well. I would have been happy to get a first round pick for him, to have Medhurst thrown in as well is a bonus. I don't see him holding down a regular spot in the starting 18, but he'll probably play at least a few games and I wouldn't be surprised if he got a couple of bags through the year. If he kicks 15-20 goals, that's a fair bonus given we've received 8th pick and are the only club with two top ten selections.

I'm surprised the Saints went for Gardiner given their well-publicised efforts to reform the... culture down at Moorabbin. On the other hand they need a proper ruckman, Gardiner was cheap and perhaps they feel the new regime they installed there will succeed in reforming Mike as well.

Swannies also did well to get Everitt. Everitt and Jolly with THAT midfield and forward line should be a good one.

Freo probably chanced the most, but also probably have the biggest potential upside. I hope it works out for them.

I don't rate Polak much myself. I think he is just a hyped up version of someone like Jay Schulz and his reputation lives off the fact he was taken pick 4 behind Hodge, Ball and Judd in the last 'superdraft'. Downgrading the picks like that won't hurt Richmond though. If you have pick 8 you are pressured into selecting the left over 'name' draftee touted to go in the first few picks, at 13 you can pick your own man.

Jay Schultz - can go over to New York and get beaten up in the Ghetto.

Oh, I mean "the rumour is"...

Polak is a great option in the back half for Freo. Fact is, he's big and athletic, with a bit of talent. More than LRT anyways...

Above is GVFL's greatest contribution to Australian society. And it's importance and relevance can never be matched by anything that the O&M ever has, or ever will, do.
