Tim Paine learned a lesson today. Never ever ever burn a review like that. You never know when you might need it.

spark is right tim paine sucks
He does suck. But cricket ain’t an academic study in a vacuum.

His tactics weren’t ****ed days 1-3 or yesterday when england went at 1 an over and couldn’t get away despite having two set batsmen on a good deck. He’s not the bloke bowling length at the end. He’s not the umpire watching a bloke get his pad blown off and not moving. Apparently lol his tactics are ****ed, but he had the balls to go back to Lyon with a dozen to get and created three chances to win it from there on.

He’s no star but if you reckon he’s the reason Australia lost the test you’re kidding yourself. They didn’t bat england out of the game in the third innings when they should have, and he takes his share of the blame for that but no more than anyone else.

Anyway, shame england won a test. Had this going 4-0, but 3-1 will have to do.

Paine playing the long game I reckon - clearly after Asylum here and will doubtless use this thread as evidence of a well-founded fear of persecution if he has to go back to Australia

This is why I said earlier that those criticising Stokes for chirping earlier when England were struggling to get Labu/Wade were reading it so wrongly. What did they expect him to do? Keep his head down and hands in the pockets and just give in? Talking on the field keeps you in the game and it wakes up your fielders as well. Creating a contest on the field can help the bowlers. The dude's a fierce competitor and cricket is better for it.
But cricket is so much better when it's played in complete silence! /s

this English team's confidence and self belief must be through the roof now. First the WC - winning 2 must-win games back to back, thrashing Aussies in the semis, and then that final

Then they come into the Ashes, get Steve Smith'd in the first game, come back hard in the second, and then pull off this win here.

Must feel so incredible. Must be great for the fans too. I love it and I don't even support England.

Sucks that all these awesome moments for them get overshadowed on CW by people moaning about rules and umpires and stuff.

Awesome game, series is back alive. Hope they celebrate this win well and go on to win the whole damn thing.

The one day of the year I go out with friends, this happens. ****ing majestic. Top 10 innings of all time surely. 2 (50) overnight to this. Stokes is the new Miller. Had me hiding my phone in my lap so I could inconspicuously watch the bloody greatest innings I've seen whilst socialising.

Everyone point and laugh at Burgey because Australia choked oh so hard. And this was against the strongest attack in the world. **** me.

Must be a nice feeling when winning the World Cup isn't even the pinnacle moment you've had in the summer.

Anyway, nothing that happens in his life will ever top this moment for Stokes.

Pretty amusing to watch australia fall apart at the end to complement the genius of stokes. The dropped catches, the fumble to end all fumbles, the pitiful bowling (Cummins was especially woeful) all contributed to it being a choke for the ages. And all this after playing virtually perfectly for 3 days lmao.
