Looks like a nice innings from Pomare. BTW, why hasn't Seifert played any games for ND this season? Injured or off playing in the Moroccan Monster Mash T2 tournament?

Another hundred and 1000 first class runs for Mariu in his 10th game. How long till we find him a place in the test side? Maybe give him a taste on the winter Zimbabwe tour?
You'd be mad not to be capping someone new on the Zim tour when the incumbent is turning down a central contract.

Mitchell had buckets for hands when he first came in , but then ... he spent time in the blackcaps

Encouraging to see a couple of half centuries from Foxcroft in this round (he's 53 not out). Didn't play on that Sri Lanka white ball tour and hadn't been scoring many beforehand. Hopefully he's turned the corner.

Wellington are being outbatted by a team that has Tickner at 7. In fact Randell at 6 is pretty outrageous.

That was a very smart innings by Cleaver by the looks of it to make that innings hang together and get a good lead.

Yeah thanks to Clarkson's injury and the wise insistence to find a way to play Lennox the tail unironically begins at 6. It's a sticky tail though, at least theoretically.

Nicholls is on 99 for eleven balls having scored at a run a ball through his innings, and after eventually reaching his ton quite frustrated decides to retire to give others a go. They would have needed a 6-day match for a result in Auckland.

After a slow start it's good to see Heaphy make a score.

Meanwhile, a catastrophic day for Mariu, with his season average plummeting 160 runs to a meager 216.5.

Just reading that Mark Chapman's 276 is the fourth highest score for Auckland on the NZC site (Margot Butcher does great write ups). I forgot Munro had two big doubles.

Bad luck for ND with the rain washing out a certain victory - 23 runs needed when they went off during session 2 after O'Donnell had hit five 6s to try lift the rate.
