I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Shame if the ND Otago game gets rained off and ND fall short again. Would be great if Wagner finally got to lift the Plunket Shield after 17 years.
This got me thinking about the fact Wagner was a former Volt, and what would a full strength Otago Volts Current Alumni XI look like

1. L Carter
2. D Phillips
3. D Foxcroft
4. N Kelly
5. G Phillips
6. M Chu+
7. J Neesham
8. M Bracewell
9. N Smith
10. N Wagner
11. J Duffy

12th: M Rippon/M Rae

Carter isn't an opener but he's a better batsman than Jacob Cumming atm

Bowling options out the wazoo

Based on his economy and his wickets, it looks like Tickner got it on a dime today (and this match). Can't extrapolate very much from one match, but I wish we actually picked players in their prime rather than putting them in a year-long queue by the end of which they're crap again.

I think if you picked a random cricket team in New Zealand they'd probably fare better against Jeet Raval than whatever the **** this is. Foxcroft is absolutely steaming.

Other perennial question is why are Auckland so often so terrible.

Bowled out for 90 today too secure their spot at the bottom of the table.
Good question. Auckland should have the most competitive club scene in the country, especially given the recent interview with Abass senior about Mo needing to move down to Wellington to even get a proper run in FC cricket.

Lol, check out the ball Raval bowled to cleanup Todd. Shane Warne eat your heart out!
It is a thing of beauty, aye. Perfectly exploited the footmarks to maximum effect.

Kneebone's dismissal also well worth looking at too. Appeared he was playing in a different time zone to the ball.

I think Tickner was in pretty good form the last time he was in the test team when they played Sri Lanka two years ago. Just unfortunate that O'Rourke burst onto the scene as a generational talent and leap frogged him. The fast bowling depth with Duffy's improvement and Jamieson back is remarkable.

Not sure why Auckland have struggled. They seem to have a relatively inexperienced batting line up. They tried McKenzie playing as a batting all-rounder although seem to have dropped him for this game. The explanation used to be that their club wickets were poor so they struggled to produce batsmen.
