2024–25 NZ domestic season

Abbas' bowling has been decent for a part timer, but surely he shouldn't be needed for four overs here. Wellington's side is weirdly balanced with Tashkoff bits and pieces and Greenwood and Johnson literally specialist fielders today. Hartshorn not bowling out either.

I think Abbas is being pegged as an auld uber-accurate medium to plug the runs in T20s. The balance was funnier last game when they had one less bowler.

Boyle who? Dude's nearly 29 and has been ordinary career to date across all forms and is suddenly Viv Richards in his last couple of games. Where's this come from?
Jack Boyle has scored some runs here and there, good List A record, and scored today. But there is also younger brother Matt Boyle who is 22 and looks fairly promising, very good innings last match.

You usually expect Bruce to trivialise any gettable target but Wellington's capacity for pulling wins out of the fire seems to have outdone him here. An effective death over from van Beek of all people.

Lol, cheers I was merging them into one, I thought Jack got the 81 the other day too.

Not to pile on the guy, but match losing? fumble by Blundell second ball to allow the second run to put the more dangerous Clark back on strike, and Clark duly hits the next ball for six.
Yup! Though tbf that last over was extremely hittable length bowling, Schaw on strike might have got it done too.

Blundell's effort looking like the difference between defeat and victory here.
And then the fumble in the last over to allow them to get back for 2 & keep Clark on strike just to top it off.

Never rated Blundell as a white ball player, 50 overs or T20s.

I'm guessing having the younger brother win the game for Canterbury the other day might have helped inspire that performance from the older Boyle brother. Nice to see two brothers have MVP performances opening the batting in successful run-chases days apart. May have happened with the Marshall brothers at some point.

I felt a bit sorry for Hartshorn getting the last over in his second game. They maybe should have given Tashkoff another over as Lennox was very effective.

People like to grizzle about scheduling but I'm enjoying a match every single day at the moment.
People grizzle about scheduling? I think this is about as good as possible. You get a match every day, you avoid TV clashes with the BCs, heck SS is even starting earlier on the 18th to avoid one with the Black Clash. You've got to give everyone their space & maximise the ratings, & considering the talks for the next broadcast deal will probably be soon, TVNZ will want to get the ratings as high as possible so they can go to NZC & tell them "see the ratings? Sky can't give you this".

Yeah but..
Can't we have two games a day. Then cumulate the days off to play an extra round or two of plunket shield

Or better yet, have two teams do PS for 4 days and then other 4 play SS and then rotate actually idk I just want cricket everyday and more PS

Probably not. Too logistically difficult just for the cameras, I'm guessing, with a fear of splitting ratings. Also, during SS you've got the women's teams to juggle around as well.

Although it kinda reminds me of the English season, how they constantly go back & forth between CC & Blast.
