Not much in the pitch for the spinners at all, but yeah I agree WA probably should give him a whirl for a few overs at least

Whiteman seems to not rate Connolly as a spinner? He bowled only 1 over in his first match and here we are in the 65th over of his 2nd match and he hasn't bowled yet.
He's not a bowler. And they already have Rocciciolli they don't need a 2nd spinner

Yeah he's a batsman who bowls a bit. Australia ending up with him batting nine and playing as a frontline T20 spinner was just due to injuries and weird squad balance. He's only bowled in 8 of his 15 domestic T20 games as well.

Hope Davies get pushed up to 4 at some point this season. Still one of those people who believes that you can't be taken especially seriously as a potential specialist top order bat for Aus unless you bat top four for your state.

Thing about Davies is he looks good against good bowlers.
Oh yeah there is absolutely no flaw in his record so far, especially given the sort of pitches NSW played a lot of their games on last summer. I just think that that's a soft rule that a lot of people take seriously and this summer is the summer for him to really start pushing a case for Test selection.

EDIT: And, like, he's better than the two blokes above him. A lot better, in the case of Gilkes.

Yes. Twin tons on debut is nice.

A bit annoyed about Davies getting two starts without going on. Any reason he was trying to sweep Buckingham?

They'd absolutely packed the offside field and despite playing about a dozen different shots to those balls barely landing on the cut strip, he couldn't pierce the field. So he tried... something else.

Peter Lalor is saying Green is unlikely to play Tests this summer and he also says Steve Smith has told selectors he doesn't want to open. This means the search for a Opener is on in these first 3 rounds of shield
Gives me a good reason to bellyache a bit more about him playing meaningless limited overs matches when his back could have been busy not being stressed so much. Also the apparent inability of modern bowling coaching to do what its exponents claim - prevent back injuries.

As a third source of annoyance, Hardie is now not playing due to an injury picked up in said JAMODIs. And he's not played FC cricket since March. He's not as experienced as Green when he debuted nor does he have as good a run output. Those County matches that he didn't play could have given him more time in the middle, maybe another ton or two if he did well (I think he's gone backwards as a FC batsman, because he's been in limited overs squads rather than playing Shield).

The irony of stopping players from engaging fully in beneficial county contracts only to break them in meaningless festering late night JAMODIs.

CA managing workloads the same way Goebbels managed his marriage.

lol at Lyon batting at #8 lasting all of one innings (also lol that it was even attempted in the first place)
