2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Hughes not picked at all for NSW is definitely a surprise. I know Konstas is still super young, but he really does not look like an opener technique wise to me

Two spinners for both teams not what I expected either

Junction Oval Harris runs. Standard.
As predictable as night following day.

Tasmania haven't really bowled that well from what I've seen. Don't really see what the point of Keiran Elliott is, watching him bowl just makes me think Webster but without anywhere near as much batting ability

Turner did lose a fair bit of game time to a knee issue last season, so it's not like he just straight up wasn't getting picked then. Am a bit surprised he was overlooked for this one, although I guess WA want to give Jayden Goodwin a solid run at 3, which I don't hate honestly.
Ah thanks for that. Puts a different perspective altogether on it. I suppose he does deserve a run and was a bit unlucky with his non selection.

I don't mind Konstas being picked ahead of Hughes if it's a binary thing, but Gilkes batting three as a specialist bat makes it weird. I'd much rather have Konstas or Hughes himself there.

Fair point, Hughes opening and Konstas at 3 definitely looks better than Gilkes at 3 and Hughes absent completely

What a ball to start from Neser. Bancroft out first ball 😀

And now Neser gets Goodwin first ball as well

Might be missing something but I haven’t seen anything from Gilkes to suggest that he’s a 3 & his record is ordinary in all formats
I don't really think his batting is even good enough to play as a keeper at this level, let alone a specialist #3 bat while Hughes carries drinks.

Konstas gets his ton now. Good to see an innings like that from him, not good that we will probably see a garbage "tEsT BoLtEr" article about it in the next couple of days
