Has philippe always gone to the Alex Carey school of playing spin where you just sweep/reverse every ball and pray or is this a new development? He did it in the Aus-A stuff and has swept pretty much every ball kuhnemann has sent down to him today.

iirc in the bbl he's one of those openers with a notorious pace vs spin strike rate of like 140 vs 92 or something along that line

Can definitely remember him playing a few sweeps at times, but probably not quite to this extent. Looks to me like something he has been working on over the off season to me.

I mean tbf you expect most openers and players in general to have a better SR vs pace then spin in t20. Pacers generally bowl a ton more overs in that over 2-5/6 and 15/16-20 over period where the batsmen are going really hard. Still pretty shite that he's going at less than run a ball vs spin while set. One thing I have to give stoinis credit on, a few years ago he pretty much had to open cause he couldn't start vs spin, but he's fixed that.

oh yeah that's absolutely right, i suppose i should have added in my post above - so it would track that maybe he's got an identified problem regarding spinners that he's looked to the sweep as a remedy for

Getting spanked in South Africa wasn't enough for Neser he had to come and get spanked by WA too

Philippes numbers for WA in this format have been gun for a good sample of time now, last 3 seasons he's averaging 57 @105. Personally thought he'd been way worse but he did pretty well last season despite the horror BBL campaign and shield. Would be ironic if he gets overlooked for a BBL star after Warner's retirement despite dominating domestic one dayers.

The Marsh/JLT/Matador BBQs/Ford Ranger/ING/Mercantile Mutual Cup (probably missing a naming rights sponsor or two) really isn't in the front and centre of the selectors thoughts in this day and age

But honestly, Philippe should be at least considered after the World Cup. Damn good 50 over player

Imagine getting out-alpha'd by a 20-year-old on debut. I hope Ashton Turner cries soy tears as he falls into a melatonin-forced slumber tonight before awakening to feast on some avocado on toast and meditate while his wife is c*cked by her 20-something personal trainer.

If this isn't a bait post for me then I don't know what is

Trying to work out the logic behind the selection of Kane Williamson

Not a bad bowler BUT …..

Not in the state squad

While he must be registered with a club & lives on the Goldie, he hasn’t played for a Queensland one in 2 years to the best of my knowledge

White ball mercenary but contracted to the Renegades & not the Heat

Only thing that I can think of is that Queensland has a number of contracted bowlers made of papier-mâché (Bartlett, Sully, Bazley, Edwards) and they’ve thrown him a bone

Still doesn’t make sense
