To be fair the Shield pitches in the last few years were pretty flat on average so a one off set of greentops isn't a bad thing but yeah we don't want to be going back to the dark days of Luke Butterworth dominating the Shield charts.

Always been a very good operator at Shield level when fit has Paris, as his record shows. Chances of higher honours probably pretty remote by now, but he continues to be one of the standout FC bowlers in the country

Yeah it's a shame he's never managed to stay fit. Wouldn't surprise me if the selectors tried to get a boland type career out of him soon if he can stay fit (huge if).

I can't really see that happening, then again I can't say I expected Boland to get that shot until right before it actually happened.

Him being in the Aus A squad against NZ not that long ago suggests it isn't completely beyond the realms of possibility, but I do tend to think that horse has bolted. Still has plenty to offer domestically though

I've never understood why retired hurt is treated as not out for stats but retired is treated as out. Anyone know why as he obviously didn't get out?

Just the rules. If he's not injured, or called up for national duty, it's retired out. Also means that Queensland don't get a replacement player which they would have if he was called up for Australia or under concussion rule.

I agree it's dumb though. If you're not out you shouldn't be retired "out"
