2023-24 Australian domestic cricket season

Yeah. Khawaja did it last season too. But Burns was opening and Street wasn't in the team at all then, I much prefer this game's lineup to that

Not that it's exactly helping QLD at the moment
Have to say, that stretch when Street was being left out was pretty sucky. I would have been very tempted to select him for Australia, let alone Queensland.

How's pucovski been today? Haven't watched live but based on the comms seems like he's made a majority of his runs off the edge of the bat.

So are all of WA's huge battery of fast bowlers injured or something
Pretty much AFAIK. Morris is apparently bowling in the nets but hasn't been considered fit enough yet, Paris doesn't seem to have been considered after a hamstring strain in the NZ A series. No idea where Kelly is but I'd assume he's injured too.

That outfield looks absolutely trashed.

Funny how Aus domestic cricket is so flush with decent all-rounders all of a sudden. Any one of about 10 or 12 that are floating around now would have been catapulted into the National squad back in the 00s.

Remember back when, until a young Watto came along, the best all-rounders in the Shield were Scott Kremerskothen, Geoff Foley and Shawn Bradstreet

I suppose they had Shane Lee and Ian Harvey who were ok

This big left-armer Haskett has bowled very well without reward. Strong repeatable action, good accuracy and is getting a bit of nibble out of the wicket
Good to hear. Must say I only caught a little bit of Haskett's spell, but I am glad to hear he seems to be going nicely.

I will not stand for this Joe Scuderi erasure at all #justiceforjoe

Is Jack Edwards actually going to turn out to be pretty good?
He's definitely at least now being used in a role that could justify his existence. Bowling a lot more in both forms, batting 7 in the Shield and basically a pinch hitting opener in List A stuff.

I still don't think he'll ever be a Shield standard specialist bat tbh, but he could be a useful role player for the premier state now that he's being used properly.

Calling him a pinch hitting opener in List A is a bit harsh, imo. His batting stats in the format are good and he's been gun in it for a whole, got MOTM in a final NSW won from memory.

I'm likely one of the few who followed him in County cricket all this year. Seemed to go from crap bits and pieces player for NSW to actually being pretty handy in both disciplines. He's showed his massive improvement already this season

Always had the talent but was picked too young on the basis of playing for Oz U19s when he hadn’t done much in first grade to deserve it

He’s 23 now and his bowling action is considerably better than it was a couple of years ago plus he’s always been a good striker of the ball

From a pure talent perspective, I rate him above Sutherland as an all rounder who is a pretty good prospect himself

That's a pretty big call.
