Need Jewell to get a big score here for no other reason than to give the selectors future options other than Marcus fkn Harris
Yeah his record isn’t all that but the past season and a bit the bloke has looked a class above most

Btw, anyone know what is going on with Renshaw?

Played in the middle order for a couple of years before being picked as an opener for Queensland/Australia A seemingly out of nowhere

Does well but is then picked in middle order for Australia and fails

Picked on Ashes tour but gets dropped from squad after after a couple of poor stints as a substitute fielder

Now looks to be back in middle order for Queensland

I've been on the Jewell train but something tells me he has a lot to work out before being ready. Has that habit of looking great and then just getting himself out from nowhere with a weird shot, very regularly

They all do

My biggest issue with Harris and Renshaw is that they have glaring technical issues and haven’t improved in years

Bancroft has made adjustments but probably isn’t good enough anyway

Warner isn’t half the player that he used to be but is still miles in front and the selectors know it

My bet is that Uzi and Warner will play this summer out before both retire

Best we can hope for is that a Jewell, Street or another scores 1000+ & that Pucovski is mentally okay because the alternative is dire

I wouldn't even consider Pucovski until he can put together at least 3 seasons of regular Shield cricket to prove he won't fall to pieces, mentally or physically, at the drop of a hat

Warner's publicly said he wants to retire vs PAK this summer, doubt he plays on after that. Agree with everything else you've said, FYI. Renshaws managment these last few years have been weird af. I reckon burns will bat 5 for qld based on the squad they've released with uzzie, renshaw and Street making up the top 3.

Also have no idea why Burns is still in the squad let alone being picked

That’s definitely a boys club selection

Doubt street is really that high on the pecking order atm, but I like the way he's played recently. Made an unbeaten ton and now 45* and has looked a lot more positive doing so. He's not doing the Dom Sibley 35(140) thing he always use to do. Jewell starting the season well too, hopefully he turns this into a big score.

Still not 100% sold on jewell. He looks shaky vs the short ball, should have been out to it today but kelvin Smith (who tf is kelvin smith) shelled an easy catch. Also has a bad habit of slashing outside off ala Harris. He's making runs, but I still can't help but feel like he's not gonna do much better than current Warner.

Actually really unusual to have a top test opener batting 4 in FC. But I agree it makes sense here.
Yeah. Khawaja did it last season too. But Burns was opening and Street wasn't in the team at all then, I much prefer this game's lineup to that

Not that it's exactly helping QLD at the moment
