If the rest of today is rained out, do we start a new game tomorrow, or continue this one?
umpires will try to get a game in today first, even if it means reducing overs and DLS

if that fails then the game continues tomorrow as if the rain never happened, IIRC

no.

There are plenty of ways to test it against a placebo. Massage it in a different way to what the supposed best practice is supposed to be - that'd be just one off the top of my head. Could also do it while the patient is under general anaesthetic - if the supposed mechanism is what they say it is. Also as you mentioned, vs a saline injection etc etc etc. Gotta keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of these tests that don't find any differences don't get published. That's one of the many reasons that beating the placebo is a bare minimum standard.

Plenty of things may work.
Fine, but firstly, there isn't really a lot to lose.

Secondly, pain-reducing placebos can be important in physiotherapy, because pain can prevent patients from performing reconstructive exercises properly (or at all). So the ethics of prescribing non-effective treatments aren't the same as they are for doctors. Especially when the effectiveness of the treatment is ambiguous, as opposed to proven ineffective, and where the treatment doesn't carry any risks.

220 looks like the best new Zealand can hope for here. Though in a certain other world cup semi final 213 was enough.
