Okay those last few balls have actually been interesting - one spat off a length, then the slower bouncer just lollipopped.
Pandya's been doing this all WC. Something about his bowling looks innocuous to us watching, but batsmen have struggled to line him up all tournament. I think his stock ball skids on while his cutters really grip in the pitch, and so he's hard to time. Also the pitches being a bit on the drier side have helped.

Weird. This is the quietest I've ever heard the Indian crowd.

It's kinda annoying to take a second look at the score and suddenly think '144/3, that sounds quite good'. Would've been good from 30-32 overs.

This is either a 250 pitch or Williamson and Taylor are dumb as ****
Eh, KW played pretty well and did all he could to compensate for Ross' trouble at the other end.

Without a quality attacking spinner it's probably not a 250 pitch.

This New Zealand innings is like a horror-purchase secondhand car. It looks 20 years out of date, struggles to get going and then, when it tries to accelerate, starts falling apart.

There’s evidence that it’s effective, there’s just no evidence that it’s more effective than a placebo. But that’s because there’s no way of testing it against a placebo.

Sugar pills aren’t a very effective placebo. Maybe a placebo injection would work better but at that point you may as well just use real painkillers. And you may as well use a massage on top of that, especially if the athlete likes them. We don’t have much evidence that it doesn’t work either.
no.

There are plenty of ways to test it against a placebo. Massage it in a different way to what the supposed best practice is supposed to be - that'd be just one off the top of my head. Could also do it while the patient is under general anaesthetic - if the supposed mechanism is what they say it is. Also as you mentioned, vs a saline injection etc etc etc. Gotta keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of these tests that don't find any differences don't get published. That's one of the many reasons that beating the placebo is a bare minimum standard.

Plenty of things may work.

Not Terrible
Neesham having a tad bit of trouble is making me lean slightly into the "this is actually a difficult pitch" camp

In addition to everything you mentioned, it's also the angle the balls coming in from. I wouldn't be surprised if the batsman focuses so much on where the ball is being released from that he doesnt have the concentration to focus on what the ball is doing off the surface. Either way, unique bowler.

do you mean Bumrah or Pandya? Because Pandya's action is pretty straightforward.

I just have a horrible feeling this match is heading towards an India 9 wicket win in 40 overs.
I've seen this a lot with England in previous World Cups, where you battle to a score you think might be competitive. The thread is debating whether 220 will be enough or whether you'll need 240 etc. Then the opposition come out and it's a completely different game. 2011 against Sri Lanka probably the best example.
