    2024–25 NZ domestic season

50 for Ajaz Otherwise as commented above, a lot of bad second innings dismissals this round. Though excuse W O'Donnell as that ball from Hampton seamed a mile, might even have missed leg.

He could/should be a better batsman than CDG though I don't think it's a sure thing. CDG's career average was also a surprisingly high 38.7.

Cantebury batting on, defs looks like Mariu aiming for the triple century.

Phillips is pretty much new Colin de Grandhomme. When CdG was first picked for NZ I complained a few times that number 7 below the wicketkeeper was a bits-and-pieces spot, and if we were serious he should bat 6 and be a part time bowler. But then NZ stubbornly batted him at 7 his whole career...

Probably just terrified of L Georgeson's medium pacers tbh. For good reason, too.

Yeah excellent innings. NZ's tail collapsing 6/36 to finish the innings looks like the winning/losing of the match.

Looks like we might've preferred some real part-time fifth-spin-bowler filth from Chapman on this wicket, rather than Duffy or Smith's pace. 15 runs, oof. Though I doubt Chapman still even bowls in the nets.

With Santner and Bracewell bowled out, might be time to try get those lower order eyes to light up once more and buy a wicket with Sodhi's last over of pies.

Eh 14 run over off Smith, needs a collapse for NZ to win now.

Klusener a good comparison, now you mention it. This would be a good watch, shame I can't get it live. Kusal Mendis might see SL home though needs a partner. NZ only have 10 spin overs of the remaining 14, though I guess they could chuck the ball to Chapman too. Smith and Duffy will need to do...

Unexpected yes. Hay 49 too, I saw the commentary that he struggled a little early but a near fifty should give him confidence

Wow. One that seems both 'I can't believe it was so long ago' and 'that's ancient history' at the same time. Like Vettori at retirement, seeing the fresh face on debut is unreal. A bowling action that wasn't yet what it grew into. Fleming and Vaughan playing (the latter being Southee's first...

I think he's a lot more of a chance with Southee retiring. Firstly perhaps too similar to Southee to play together, secondly Henry is now the only experienced seamer, and they might like Duffy and his long FC career around for that reason. He probably doesn't make my first choice seam attack a...

Gonna go out on a high note - forget wickets and keeping that 29.88 career average under 30, Timmeh will finally eclipse his debut 77* against England in his final test against England. yhihf
