England players and selection discussion thread

The next month will be interesting in the CC, the likes of Robinson, Pennington and Tongue could all yet be considered. But most likely it's 3 from the 4 you mention and we'll see which spinner Stokes has taken a liking to on Youtube.

England players and selection discussion thread

I just don't understand why England would select him when he's literally become 3rd choice for his own County and has essentially been sent packing. He offers nothing with the bat either. If he was taking loads of wickets then fair enough, but he's not.

*Official* Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025

I had a feeling the game between PBKS and GT was the best quality we'd seen so far and I'm sticking to that. I think they're the 2 to beat, they seem to have all bases covered (GT are so strong they're not even using 4 overseas players at the mo).

Wouldn't be surprised if at least 6 of those never played a Test again (Parkinson, Overton, Jacks, Livingstone, Hartley and an injury prone seamer).

    **Official** English Football Season 2024/25

I think there's an element of truth in it. Murillo in particular is not the biggest and struggled as soon as Maguire appeared. If Amorim had made that change sooner he may well have found an equaliser.

    **Official** English Football Season 2024/25

I think you could argue that Kane is a half decent target man, his ability to bring others into play is under-rated. Portsmouth's season improved significantly when our own target man returned from injury, and he hasn't even scored that many goals.

The Most Inexcusable Droppings by Selectors

The setting up of players to fail has seemingly been perfected by English selectors over the years, especially with spinners. Simon Kerrigan anyone? And you can add countless others. But that's probably a different thread, the Most Ridiculous Selections.

You could argue that the dominant Aussie team was filled with far more tvvats than likeable characters, but the art of a decent management team is to mold them together. Robinson is undoubtedly a bit of a muppet, but that shouldn't be a reason for not selecting him when on the pitch he's got...

    *Official* Women's Cricket discussion thread

It's not so much the new blood, it's making the most out of the current blood which the previous regime totally failed to do. There's a decent amount of talent, but thought processes have been horrific (Bouchier, Dunkley, Capsey obvious targets), fitness levels waning (Ecclestone, Capsey) and...

    **Official** English Football Season 2024/25

Slightly alarming for Utd that they looked most like scoring a goal when they put Maguire on up front.

    Matches which broke your heart

I don't suppose NZ or SA fans will be able to think of anything. From an English perspective, the 2006 Adelaide Test.

I have no idea why they keep selecting him, the Leeds choke is on again and he's a key reason why. Portsmouth have taken 4 points off Leeds this season entirely because of him. His efforts at the weekend were horrendous, he's a calamity waiting to happen.

    Name the test Cricket Trophy

I'd like to see all future SA v Aus series in SA be called the Bancroft/Warner. Any drawn series between SA and Eng should receive the Cronje Trophy.

The Most Inexcusable Droppings by Selectors

I don't know what this Adelaide Test is that you talk of, never happened. Of course another great tactic England had was when the batting folded meekly so we dropped a bowler.....there were countless names to choose from on that strategy.

The Most Inexcusable Droppings by Selectors

I'm not sure any dropping in the 90's was inexcusable, some of those keeping their places might be more questionable. The KP one is more subjective, but there's only so long you can get away with being a complete **** before it leads to trouble. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I still have issues...

    Name the test Cricket Trophy

Always though the England/India series being named after an administrator or a Sussex Cricketer were a bit odd. Bilateral ODI series should be named the Flintoff/Ganguly and the trophy should be of a player swirling their shirt above their heads.

Well looks like this one won't........they might struggle to sneak in the second time out at this rate.

*Official* Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025

I said just started. 10 overs were completed in 51 minutes, so we're looking at 1 hour 42 mins for the full 20.....but that's not before things slow down at the end which they invariably do.

Erm, it's never even close to that. This innings has just started the 9th over after 42 mins.
