How do you prepare your bat for playing

Here's a link for an article on how to prepare your cricket bat. I've found it to be pretty useful. It goes through a step by step process on how to knock in your bat. Cricket Articles - How to Prepare your Cricket Bat

    **Official** New Zealand in Australia

Its amazing how money influences the game of cricket. If Australia did what india did last year, Steve Bucknor would have been suspended for his umpiring and their would be burning effigies of him out in the streets throughout australia.

    Need help with batting.

Thats a hard one to cure chucking the ball. I started to chuck the ball when bowling during my last few seasons of cricket and never really got it fixed. Personally i would leave it as it is until someone bans you from bowling if it hasnt already happend. I dont know if your a good bowler or not...

    The death

Interesting thread...........out of current bowlers, i would go with nathan bracken. Hes able to change his pace deceptively and also able to bowl yorkers. Umar Gul is another one who isnt bad at bowling at the death. It is hard to compare players from a previous generation as the game evolves.

Im probably going to get blasted for saying this but any sporting teams (not just the australian cricket team) should play with arrogance. Maybe not quite as much arogance but still, some of the best sports players ive meet are arrogant at some point. Although usually its on the field that just...

Too old to start playing competitive cricket?

Go for it champ. Never too old to start playing.

Geez, there doesnt seem to be a few fans of marshy here so ill come into bat for him. At least he has made runs in the one dayers and consistently as well against the south africans. He probably doesn't quite warrant a test opening spot at the moment but if jaques is still injured, who else are...

Need few tips with my bowling!

I agree with jakester, you want the ball to be coming through at a height of stump high at the batsmen. The only advice i can think of is practice, practice, practice and then practice some more. Bowling a little bit full of a length can be alright if you can swing the ball around. I dont know...

    Which bat?

I know ive mentioned this before but i believe the bradbury bats to be some of the best bats in the world. Its a big statement but i know that some of the australian team uses bradbury bats. David Hussey for one uses a bradbury bat, even though he has put the grey nicolls nitro stickers on...

I dont mean to be racists in any way but the south african selection policy seems dodgy. I think its going to be changing soon but shouldnt the best player that fits the team structure be selected, irrespective of colour, wealth or any other socioeconomic factors. Thats just my two cents and im...

Im not convinced marsh is an opener. He has seemed to have lost his flare that he had when batting in the middle order. He's a great batter but i just cant see him being a successful opener. Although that is pretty much the only available spot for him to slot into the australian team. Watson can...

Matthew Hayden Retires - Tribute Thread ***Breaking News***

Great career by a quality player. Shame all his good luck ran out. He had to retire though. Thanks haydos for some meroable innings.

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

There are plenty of promising cricketers at state level who can fill in at international level. The last thing we want is more injuries to people like johnson and Lee who have had to carry the baulk of the workload. I would atm like to see some experimentation with some of the state players and...

    What should Australia do now?

Change Krezja with Aaron Heal and youve got yourself a team.

    Should Matthew Hayden retire?

I dont think haydos should retire but the aussie selectors should probably have dropped him. Send him to state level and see what he does for QLD. If he can score runs well bring him back. If not well then goodbye hayden. Would like to see some of the more younger, promising cricketers get a go...

    Hauritz vs Krejza

Marcus North should be the spinning option. Sure he isnt well renowned for his spin bowling but hes bowled well for a few seasons tweaking his off-breaks. He's managed to bowl tight and take wickets in all forms of the game..........given the fact that he plays 1/2 the games at the WACA is a...

    Which bat?

Best advice is going to a shop and feeling the bats yourself. The Bradbury Sterling is a pretty fine bat, has a good pick-up. Unless if the bat isnt knocked in properly, the bradbury will last a lifetime.

Does anybody agree that Neil McKenzie has one of the worst techniques, especially opening the batting. It rates right up there with Stuart MacGill's. He looks like bambi on ice.

McDonalds provides a good ballance in the team to build up pressure on the south africans. Wouldnt mind seeing a spinner though
