    Australia has about 1 year at the top again. by then India will get there. I doubt SA will do it (5-1 loss just 2 years ago) and in any case i see India as a better team than SA. Problem is that india doesn't really have that many good bowlers.

    I think that LAra most certainly deserved to be there. His 375 in 1994 as well as his 213 and 153* v Australia in 1999 were 3 of the best innings ever witnessed. Add the first class record of 501* within 6 weeks of the 375 and one really has to wonder. I would put him there in place of IVA...

    How about Lara's 501* in 1994. I think that would take some breaking as well as his 7 centuries in 8 consecutive FC innings and his 641 runs in 2 consecutive FC innings. Tendulkar's 495 not out Test runs will also take some beating although technically Lara with 400* can probably get it...
