When Anderson is swinging the ball, he is a different bowler completely.

****. Hussey gone. Need Ponting to really put his foot down and Clarke to get himself in. These two need to be together at lunch.

I would love to see 2 batsmen from the top 6 ending the day today.

Katich handled that short ball from Flintoff great. Love the Katman.

I bet any spinner would have loved to play on this pitch if they were playing today. As long as you give it a bit of flight, bit of spin, and put it in the right areas (most important to put it in the right areas, then spin and flight) you would get assistance from this pitch.

Ponting and Katich look good. That ball really took off though. With that ball, and some of yesterday's deliveries, this pitch is just going to get better and better for the spinners, but perhaps the weather could change that.

Swann should have taken the ball instead of Broad for the first over IMO. Get the spinners overs in while you can before the new ball comes and the pacers are fresh and ready to bowl. Then bring the spinners back when the ball has worn out a bit and the pacers had a go.

I really, really hope we get a result in this match. Anyway, looking forward to today. Hope Katich and Ponting, and Australia as a whole, can press on and make a big score.

If only. I really hope we get to about 500 or so then declare. We need to either plan to chase in the last innings or try to make more runs then they will score in their second innings so we don't need to bat again. We need to make our decision and go for it. We either bat as far as we can, or...

    Battrick

Won with 1.3 overs left to go thanks to 93 from Newton and 49 from Coutts, along with a few double digit scores from others. Naming a better team for Sunday's friendly (resting 2 best batsmen), then when the normal matches (not against bots) I will be using my full strength team.

batting help!!!! for a 13 year old

Make sure you go to the nets with them to see what they are like. Bat your own style, unless of course it doesn't suit the form (eg you are a defensive stonewall and you are playing Twenty20's). I'm 13 too, and I play grade (mens) cricket so I understand what you mean. I don't know if you play...

    Simon Katich

I agree. He reminds me of Justin Langer now. Gritty, tough, determined.

End of Over 50: 254-6, runrate=5.08 Britz 10-0-74-0 Beresford* 63 (61 balls) Fitzpatrick 4 (4 balls) Chase should be fun. Every batsmen is very aggressive. Resting my 2 best batsmen.

Who do you currently regard as the 3 greatest Australian cricket players ever and why

Yep, I agree with this. McGrath, Miller or Gilchrist would be my next choice.

The arrival of Liam Robert Sinclair

A bit late, but congratulations Mathew and family.

    Winning sessions

Slightly off topic, but in the 2001 (?) Ashes series the Australians had a chart on the wall of the dressing room where they ticked, crossed or dashed each session of the game.

I swear I didn't write that. I was supposed to say "nearly better than ours".
